Depends on the monitor size & the resolution its gunna run at, 1024x768 on 17" or smaller probly the 7600, higher than than that I'd go with the 7800.

but the 7800gt has 20 pixel piplines and 256 bit interface

the 7600gt has 12 pixel piplines and a 128 bit interface

i would really reccomend taking the step up to a 7900gt tho

A 7900gt costs about 300 bucks, don't even bother getting a 7800gt, either get the 7600gt or 7900gt.

The 7800Gt is a good card if your buying a used (or new) one in the < $225ish range. Its better than the 7600GT all around. That being said if your buying new the 7900GT is looking pretty sweet, though avaliability is a little tight right now.

An alternative would be an x1800 class card.

generally, most 7600 GTs that I have seen require a minimum of a 350 watt PSU, and anywhere from 18-22 amps on the 12v rail.

True, but they don't need any extra power, they get all they need from the mobo.

just to add in a sumarize here:
the 7800 is better than the 7600.
but the 7800's are scarce, and actually cost the same, as a 7900gt. and the 7900gt (which costs the same as the 7800gt) performs much much better.

I would definitly get a 450-500watt PSU or more to be safe, and allows for more future components.

They will throw a basic minimum requirement PSU in there so dont exect much.
