Geforce 7600 and 6800 PCI Express Cards?

I have the Hewlett-Packard Pavilion Media Center Desktop with AMD Athlon™ 64 X2 Processor 4200+http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....=1140391940047
With upgraded 1 gig of RAM. BUT! I have the crap graphics card of the world. Which card (Geforce 6800 or 7600) would you suggest I buy to run BF:2 on medium to high settings? :)

The 7600GT is faster than any 6800 series card for the most part. Definately go with it. Otherwise an x1800XL or 7900GT would be nicer more expensive options.

another word of advice, upgrade to 2 gigs of RAM if you can afford it. Upgrading your RAM will be a big step towards quicker loading times, better frame rates, and you'll be able to run more on high.

Can you guide me to a website, a brand name (preferably N-vidia) or a store that sells 2 gig?

well, I mean 2 gigs of Computer RAM. Nvidia doesn't manufacter computer RAM.

Wait. After looking at the link you gave (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....=1140391940047) you already have 2 gigs of RAM. At least, thats what it says it comes with under the specs.

First of all, the psu that comes with your machine is most likely crappy. So the only card I would recommend using is a 7600gt, because it doesn't require any extra power from the psu.

Ok, what is the PSU. I will be building a PC soon and need to learn these things.

My PC can upgrade to 4 GIGS. Would that make much of a difference?

Last question. How do I find out what kind of power supply my PC has?

you really wouldn't see much of a difference now. To find out what kind of psu your computer has, take off the side panel. There should be a metal looking square attached to the upper left hand side. There should be a sticker attached to it. Read and see what the max wattage is, and how many amps are on the 12v rails. There may be more than one 12v, and it will list them as 12v1 and 12v2, and possibly 12v3. Please post what the number says under the 12v.

First of all, stay away from your psu, you can't replace it and messing with it is last thing you want to do. Stick with the 7600gt, and the 2 gigs of ram you already have.

Thank you. All of you have been so much help. All of the other forums treat me like crap. Dismissing me as a noob because they have super PCs and know everything about anything. This is why I love these forums. I won't go messing with the PSU and I will be going with 7600GT.

u can mess with the psu but u would need to know what the hell ur doing, if u dont ur screwed, u can pay $150-200 to geeksquad getting it fixed (they rip u off badly, but i will do it for anything more than $5 )
