Right now I have 1.5 Gigs of ram in the form of two sticks. One of the sticks is a gig and the other is 512. Now my question. Would it run better if I just had the one stick of a gig in or does it run better now? They are both different brands if that makes a difference. Thanks.

Well, it won't slow u down, so 1.5 gig is better, but u don't get the benefits of dual-channel since they're different capacities of ram. Anyways, if i were u, i'd get another gig of ram (the same model as the one u have now) and put it in as 2 gigs.Comment

That's what I do when upgrading from 1Gig to 1.5Gig. to 2Gig, just be sure you get the same brand as the ones you have when buying the additional 512mb. The only downside with this is we can not overclock 4 sims of RAM because once you have 3 dims double sided rams, it will no loner be stable running at 400mhz, you'll get 333mhz. This is one of the reason that when overclocking, we use 2 identical sticks. But if your not into overclocking, your set-up is fine, just like mine by the way.Comment
