Floppy Drive

Every time I boot up my computer, it says something like "Floppy drive fail (40), but I have everything plugged in right, and I can't figure out what's wrong.

The green light on the floppy drive is constantly on for some reason also..

Any idea?

same thing happened to me!! my daughter put tweezers in it! and jammed it up and i got them out but light was always on like urs!
that bad oy is fried!
get a new one! there really cheap!

Buy another or disable it in the BIOS.

Who uses floppy drives? Buy a flash drive of 256mb for like $20 with a $10 rebate lol

It's not fried, you just put the cable in the wrong way. Reverse it and the problem will be fixed.

If you dont have any need for the drive, you probably can get away with unplugging it.

Using a floppy for bios updating is not very reliable.

It's a "self-extracting" thing that puts it straight on the floppy, so it has to be on a floppy

If this for the Gigabyte board in your sig, then you do not need a floppy drive. Just use Gigabytes @BIOS Flash Utility,

Have you tried to reverse the data cable? Just turn the connector upside down and put it back in.
