You realize that some people have hobbies right?

Building scale models isn't worth the time or money either, but many people find it entertaining.

Oh dont worry i understand the hobby aspect. Its a hobby of mine as well. But my thinking is that if a computer hobby is like building models, regular air cooling is building models that will fit on a desk or on a bookshelf, and watercooling is more like building lifesized replicas.

Its just something i wouldnt recommend doing, i have read about too many people who go back to air because the benefits are just not worth the costs both monetary, time, potential risks, and immobility of watercooling etc...

Eh, our opioninon differ then.

Sometimes if you build a inferior system it is definately not worth the cost, if your going to go for it you need to go all out and get all the best parts. As for immobility, I've taken my rig to lan parties several times and had no problems...

building your own pc is very easy. Just have the motherboard's manual next to you and you'll be done in an hour mostly

Just wanted to point out something I've seen before with alot tweakers:

alot of them use a minimum amount of screws needed to attach the motherboard to the case. they do this out of convenience (opening, modding, reinstalling mobo, etc.) and it's usually ok.

the problem they sometimes encounter is when they start bolting on heavy cooling equipment. it puts a strain on the mobo at any point that the mobo screws onto the case, and if you've only go a couple-three screws holding your mobo down, the weight and/or high temp can lead to warping/breaking of silicon around the screws.

Bottom line, be careful when you bolt on heavy components directly onto the most expensive pieces of your pc, and always be sensitive that you must move it VERY carefully. it is possible to simply lean the case too far and have the heavy cooling component (air or water, for that matter) pulling the $350 CPU out of the socket...
...crashing down on the $400 gfx card (or both of them)...
...crashing down on the $150 audigy xfly...
...ripping out the power supply cable...

Quick quiz: how many frames per second do you think that fella got when he accessorized his gfx card by "merging" his cpu with it?

lol ! :P anyways i take it back not getting watercooling... but its just a big job if you want to do it right.... and im not gonna get asetek im gonna look out for something else...

Is building a computer hard, for a person who's never done it before? Because im gonna get a job in the summer (OH NOES!!!) and i will buy my own computer, and am hoping to be able to build one, any tutorials or stuff helpful?

my m8 has water cooling on his CPU & VGA. Has them both overclocked at high rates. but if u aint guna do O'cing there is no point going there.
