Multiple studios across all SIE regions impacted.

Sony just laid off about 900 people across multiple PlayStation studios around the world. These 900 or so laid off employees account for roughly 8% of the total workforce for Sony Interactive Entertainment.

Embracer Lays Off 97 Employees from Eidos; Cancels New Deus Ex

Embracer's rampage continues.

Eidos-Montreal, a development studio currently under the Embracer umbrella, made the sad announcement that employees at the studio were being laid off. Eidos took to social media to confirm that 97 people have been let go "from development teams, administration, and support services".

    My Final Thoughts on Titanfall as the Beta Nears Its End

    As the Titanfall beta comes to a close (later on Feb 19), I offer up some final thoughts of my impressions on the beta and the game. It also shows off the Hardpoint Domination mode with the two beta maps, Burn Cards, challenges, and character progression. It should also be noted that during the upload (or encoding) process, some weird video skips popped up. Those major hiccups were not seen in the game itself, though there were a few other minor framerate hiccups here and there....

    Final Fantasy 7 Remake Would Take Longer to Develop than the Final Fantasy 13 Trilogy

    In speaking with Joystiq, Final Fantasy producer, Yoshinori Kitase, said that while he would love to do an HD version of Final Fantasy 7, the work load would be more than the entire Final Fantasy 13 trilogy.

    Keeping in mind that the trilogy of Final Fantasy 13 games took over 10 years to develop and release and you should have a better idea of how big of a task it would be to remake Final Fantasy 7 with modern visuals and high definition audio.

    A couple of new trailers have come out today for the PlayStation 4 exclusive, The Order: 1886. Unfortunately, neither of them actually show any gameplay, but we'll get back to that in the next news post.
