Ubisoft Pulls Licenses for The Crew, Makes the Game Completely Inaccessible to Buyers

From the same company trying to sell you a $130 version of Star Wars Outlaws.

From announcing a $130 edition of Star Wars Outlaws to pulling game licenses from those that bought The Crew, Ubisoft sure is on a roll this week.

The Crew was Ubisoft's open-world racing game that was pulled from sale back in December 2023. As of March 31, 2024, Ubisoft shut down the online servers for The Crew. This effectively made the game unplayable across all platforms, including: PC,...

Tim Sweeney Called Valve 'Assholes' in Email to Gabe Newell, Valve COO Says 'You Mad Bro?'

Tim Sweeney is always mad.

The antitrust lawsuit against Valve from Wolfire Games got a little spicy this week. To quickly get you up to speed: Wolfire claims that Valve uses its position with Steam to control game prices and muscle out competition. Though the initial lawsuit against Valve was dismissed, Wolfire amended their suit in May 2022 and the legal battle was back on.

It may have taken almost two years, but we are now starting to see some of the documents that...

900 People Laid Off Across Multiple PlayStation Studios

Multiple studios across all SIE regions impacted.

Sony just laid off about 900 people across multiple PlayStation studios around the world. These 900 or so laid off employees account for roughly 8% of the total workforce for Sony Interactive Entertainment.

President and CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment, Jim Ryan, announced the layoffs to the public today. The public statement came after an email was sent to all employees informing them of the layoffs. From Ryan's...

Xbox Confirms PlayStation 5 Releases, Diablo 4 on Game Pass, and Future Hardware Plans

No, Starfield and Indiana Jones are not going multi-platform any time soon.

The heads of Xbox stayed true to their word and were indeed a part of a special edition of the Official Xbox Podcast. During today's pre-recorded podcast and subsequent blog post, head of Xbox Phil Spencer stated that four Xbox exclusives are going to be multi-platform releases. Is it Starfield? Indiana Jones? Gears of War? Halo?! No, no, no, and no. Though Spencer did not specify what those four titles ...

Grid: Autosport Release Date and Images Leaked

Both Brasilgamer and the German Eurogamer sites have "revealed" that a new Grid title is coming. It is called Grid: Autosport.

From the looks of things, the game will be for the previous generation of consoles and the PC and it looks to have a tentative release date of June 27, 2014.

But what's a leak without a bunch of screenshots, right?

New Fatal Frame Game Coming to the Wii U

Tecmo Koei and Nintendo are gearing up to bring the world a new entry in the Fatal Frame franchise. As you may expect, it's currently in development for the Wii U. As far as news goes on this new Fatal Frame, not much else is known. There is no title revealed yet nor was there any release date revealed for the new game. However, Tecmo Koei does plan on expanding the franchise through some non-gaming releases. A live-action film is slated for release in the Fall. A new, original ...

Todd Stashwick Also Departs Naughty Dog

The hits just keep on coming for Naughty Dog, and I'm not talking about big blockbuster releases. Earlier today, it was revealed that Nate Wells left the studio to work at Giant Sparrow. Now, it seems that writer and actor Todd Stashwick has also left the studio.

He has moved on to working at Visceral Games as the co-writer for their Star Wars project, the same one Amy Hennig is directing. Stashwick was the voice you heard in the Uncharted for PS4 teaser from about five months...

In speaking with Polygon, the founder of the company talks about their deal with Microsoft and his desire to make use of Microsoft's Azure cloud system on the Xbox One. This also includes his continued hopes of including multiplayer in future releases.

Nintendo Being Sued Over Wii U Patent Dispute

Texas based company, Secure Axcess, has filed a lawsuit against Nintendo claiming that the company is infringing on a patent it filed in 2000 for "multiscreen personal computer display method apparatus." As you can probably already tell, the lawsuit's main focus is on the Wii U and its use of the Wii U gamepad. The lawsuit goes beyond Nintendo, however, as Secure Axcess is also targeting retailers such as GameStop, Target, and Amazon for selling the device without a "license or authoriz...

Sony Pictures Registers Domains for BioShock Movie

Sony Pictures was discovered to have recently registered three new domains pointing towards a BioShock movie. As with most of these cases, it could simply be an attempt to lock down the domains and may not indicate any actual film is being worked on. However, it doesn't hurt to keep that hope alive. Sony Pictures now holds the rights to BioShock-Movie.com, BioShock-Movie.net, and Bio-Shock.net. This is yet another in a long string of potential BioShock film adaptations that were...

New 30 Minute Gameplay Video for Wolfenstein: The New Order

If you perhaps missed the latest Twitch stream for Wolfenstein: The New Order, then you missed out on about 30 minutes of fresh gameplay footage.

Fret not as the gameplay footage has made its way to YouTube and can be viewed below. If you don't want to be spoiled by absolutely anything, you should probably avoid watching most, if not all, of the video.

This gameplay footage shows off some early levels of the game, similar to what was shown recently at PAX East...

  • Red Orchestra 2 Update Adds New Transports, Gametype, Map, and a New Update System

Fans of Unreal Engine titles are already well acquainted with how terrible it is to update those games. We're talking about multiple GB updates even when something super minor is changed. It's the nature of the engine. That is, until now.

With today's update to Red Orchestra 2, Tripwire has incorporated the "Brewing System" into the game. That means that after today's massive 8.5GB update, future updates should be significantly smaller in size, say only a few hundred MB. In addition...

Some Legitimate Elder Scrolls Online Accounts Incorrectly Banned

Bethesda has gone on record with admitting that they made a few mistakes in a recent wave of account bans from The Elder Scrolls Online. The mass bans were carried out against alleged gold spammers, botters, and exploiters, but unfortunately a few legitimate players were caught up in that wave.
As part of our continuing effort to combat gold spammers, botters and exploiters, we recently banned a number of accounts. After several players appealed, we were able to investigate the matter

Garry's Mod LUA Exploit Leads to Spread of "Coughing Virus"

Earlier today, some malicious code started to spread through many Garry's Mod servers. This code forced a server to push a .dll file to a user's computer. This would then spam the word "cough" to friends of the affected player and also through in-game chat. It would also change the affected user's name and also append exclamation points to the front of affected servers (so as to appear first on the server browser when sorting by name). This seems to have been the extent of the damages ca...

Battlefield 1942 is Free on Origin... Again

Once again, EA is just giving away Battlefield 1942 through Origin. Last month EA gave out Dead Space as part of their new On the House program. This month it's Battlefield 1942 that's free, though their On the House page still lists Dead Space. So either this is a non-On the House free game and a limited time offer, or it's going to be an On the House deal, or it's a new permanent price reduction, or I have no idea what I'm talking about. No matter what, just go get the game since ...
