Ubisoft Pulls Licenses for The Crew, Makes the Game Completely Inaccessible to Buyers

From the same company trying to sell you a $130 version of Star Wars Outlaws.

From announcing a $130 edition of Star Wars Outlaws to pulling game licenses from those that bought The Crew, Ubisoft sure is on a roll this week.

The Crew was Ubisoft's open-world racing game that was pulled from sale back in December 2023. As of March 31, 2024, Ubisoft shut down the online servers for The Crew. This effectively made the game unplayable across all platforms, including: PC,...

Battlefield 1942 is Free on Origin... Again

Once again, EA is just giving away Battlefield 1942 through Origin. Last month EA gave out Dead Space as part of their new On the House program. This month it's Battlefield 1942 that's free, though their On the House page still lists Dead Space. So either this is a non-On the House free game and a limited time offer, or it's going to be an On the House deal, or it's a new permanent price reduction, or I have no idea what I'm talking about. No matter what, just go get the game since ...

Titanfall and PlayStation 4 Top the NPD Charts for March

Sure, Microsoft may have sold 311,000 Xbox One consoles to retailers in March, but the PlayStation 4 still sold more units. This is according to the latest NPD figures and a breakdown from GI.biz.

On the hardware side of things, the PlayStation 4 "led hardware sales despite the Xbox One exclusive Titanfall topping the games chart." That means the PS4 sold above the 311,000 units that Microsoft moved with the Xbox One and managed to do so despite the release of Titanfal...

Xbox One Has Shipped 5 Million Units to Retailers

Microsoft has revealed that the Xbox One has shipped over 5 million units to retailers since its launch. That again is a figure that has shipped to retailers but not necessarily sold to consumers.

There is quite a big difference between those two things. However, beyond that, Microsoft has also noted that March was a strong month for the Xbox One. They sold 311,000 units through the month, while the Xbox 360 sold 111,000 units. They also note that, on average, there are 2...

VHS Tapes Used to Achieve the Low-fi Look in Alien: Isolation

The above video from GameSpot for Alien: Isolation shows off how the team managed to achieve "low-fi sci-fi." That is to say, the team actually recorded game elements and UI elements to VHS tape, messed with the cables, imported that back into the game environment and what resulted was pure 1970's magic.

    That's actually really awesome....
