Bethesda Celebrates 25 Years of Elder Scrolls with a Morrowind Giveaway

Bethesda is celebrating 25 years of The Elder Scrolls today. On this day back in 1994, Bethesda released the first Elder Scrolls title called The Elder Scrolls: Arena for DOS. And while it's not that easy to play the original Elder Scrolls on modern machines, you should still be able to play The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind.

It's probably a good thing that FOR TODAY ONLY (March 25, 2019), you can get a free copy of Morrowind to keep forever and ever for the life of the Bethesda.net Launcher. Here is how you can snag your free copy of Morrowind, plus some other freebies. Do...

Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 Announced, Pre-orders Available Now

After multiple weeks and a few months of teases, including a long running ARG surrounding a dating app called Tinder, we now have an official announcement of Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2. Paradox Interactive made the big reveal just moments ago via a GDC party. The party was "supposed" to be for a new Tinder reveal but thanks to some unintentionally cheesy live-action role playing, it turned out to be a big reveal for Bloodlines 2.

This is a direct sequel to the previous title that came out back in 2004 on the very same day that Half-Life 2 was released....

Valve Finally Shows Off New Steam UI Overhaul

An update to the Steam user interface and library has been in the works at Valve for years now. Today, the company finally feels comfortable enough to show off their Steam UI overhaul and did just that during a presentation at GDC 2019. I'd like to first thank Game Informer and PC Gamer (and again) for a lot of the information and screenshots you'll see below.

Library
First up, let's talk about the changes coming to how your Library will look and function with this new update. The Friends list is now integrated into a column on the right side. No idea if this is an optional...

Nintendo Embraces Indie - Cuphead, Darkwood, a Dancing Zelda, and More Revealed Today for Switch

Are you ready for the invasion of the Indies on the Nintendo Switch? Earlier today, a new Nindies Showcase for Spring 2019 outlined a good number of independent developed titles that are coming soon to the portable console otherwise known as the Switch.

Some of the highlights in today's announcement include Cuphead from Studio MDHR. This one will be out on April 18. In addition, Cadence of Hyrule - Crypt of the NecroDancer Featuring the Legend of Zelda was also announced today. This rhythm-action title takes its catchy tunes to Hyrule and features playable Link and Princess...

The Outer Worlds, Remedy's Control, Detroit: Become Human, and More Announced as Epic Games Store Timed Exclusives

As part of today's GDC presentation, Epic Games announced a number of timed exclusives that are coming first to the Epic Games Store. Among these games are The Outer Worlds, Control from Remedy Entertainment, and even some PlayStation 4 exclusives like Detroit: Become Human from Quantic Dream.

Some of these titles, such as The Outer Worlds, will also appear on the Microsoft Store for Windows 10. I guess this just lends more confirmation that Epic is less about purchasing exclusives and more about simply paying companies to keep their games off of Steam. Consumers should not...

  • After Just Two Days, Only One Person is Still Playing The Culling 2

After Just Two Days, Only One Person is Still Playing The Culling 2

Despite The Culling 2 coming out just two days ago, the game can already be declared dead. As of this posting, there is only one person playing the game. Perhaps it's a fluke but let's take a look at the bigger picture.

The game has a 24-hour peak of just 7 players. It has an all-time peak of 249 players and that was right when the game was released. These are stats pulled from Steam Charts, which you can always view for yourself via Steam Charts if you don't believe me. It also currently sits at a "Very Negative" average review score on Steam after 162 user reviews, of which only 22 are classified as positive.

For comparison, the first game has a total of seven players active within the past hour, a 24-hour...

Valve Updates Dota Plus with Special Summer Update

Back in March, Valve announced and released Dota Plus, a subscription service that they called an "evolution of the Majors Battle Pass." It featured a bunch of perks not available to non-subscribers but things kind of fell quiet for a number of months.

Today, that silence was broken with today's update for Dota 2 that includes a special Summer update for Dota Plus subscribers.

Capcom is Making a Monster Hunter 3D Animated Special

A Monster Hunter 3D animated special is in development from Capcom and Pure Imagination Studios. They're calling it Monster Hunter: Legends of the Guild and it will tell a story of "a brave young man determined to prove himself as a monster hunter worthy of recognition."

And he's going to get that chance after he finds out that his village just happens to lie in the path of an Elder Dragon. Whoops! What a silly village, getting in the way of an Elder Dragon like that. Tsk tsk.

    Code Vein Delayed Until 2019

A bit of unfortunate news to start with today and that is the fact that Code Vein has been delayed until 2019. This comes directly from Bandai Namco that says the original September 28, 2018 release just wasn't going to be feasible anymore.

Wasteland 2: Director's Cut Announced for August Release on Switch

The Nintendo Switch will soon get a new (the first?) post-apocalyptic RPG in the form of Wasteland 2: Director's Cut. Wasteland 2: Director's Cut will be out in August and will include all of the enhanced content of the original release along with the other additions and improvements that have been made to the game on other platforms.

For those curious, Wasteland 2 is a lot like the original Fallout games before Fallout 3. That seems like the easiest way to describe the game for those not in the know.

  • Todd Howard Says Bethesda will Stop Releasing Skyrim if People Stop Buying It

Bethesda loves to re-release The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. I mean, it's become a joke at this point but a joke that has some basis in reality. For instance, we have Skyrim available on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC. We have Skyrim VR available for the PlayStation 4 and PC. We have Skyrim Special Edition for Switch, PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.

So, why so many Skyrim releases? It's simple: People keep buying it and people keep playing it. Bethesda's own Todd Howard talked about this very thing with Geoff Keighley during Gamelab in Barcelona. GI.biz sat in on the interview and provided the following quote...
