Discord Distances Itself from Gaming

Discord is now your place to talk.

Discord was built upon the idea of bringing gamers of all types together. It's certainly a big factor that prompted my friends and I to make the move to Discord from TeamSpeak and Ventrilo however long ago it's been now. We were a group of friends that played a lot of games together. We didn't like the quality of the service we were paying monthly for from the alternatives and decided to give Discord a try. We never looked back.

That...

Cyberpunk 2077 New Trailer Revealed - 'The Gig'

A new trailer showcasing new footage, characters, and story.

Today, CD Projekt Red lifted the lid on a whole lot of new media and impressions for Cyberpunk 2077. A number of outlets have shared their first-hand experiences with a vertical slice of the game based on being able to play it for the past week or two now. Lucky SOBs, I'll tell you what. This all came together today in the release of those impressions to the web alongside a brand new official trailer from CD Projekt Red themselves....

Mixer is Shutting Down

Microsoft is pulling the plug on their streaming platform.

On July 22, Microsoft will officially close down their streaming service, Mixer, for good. The plan is to instead move all of its existing partners over to Facebook Gaming. This rather sudden announcement means that Mixer partners and streamers will be moving to Facebook Gaming beginning today.

According to The Verge, Microsoft "has struggled to reach the scale needed to Mixer to compete with Twitch, YouTube,...

Review: Disintegration

A terribly underwhelming take on the sci-fi FPS genre.

Disintegration, the debut title from V1 Interactive, places players in the shoes of Romer Shoal. Shoal was a former celebrity robot turned outlaw that leads a group of other current outlaws to take down the evil Rayonne. This is done through a lot of vehicle focused combat and some great character designs, but a terrible story with some surprisingly shallow gameplay. Though the game aims to become a real genre defining moment for...

Review: Maneater

A fun, albeit shallow, gameplay experience.

Maneater is one of those titles that is just the right amount of dumb fun. It pushes the dumb just far enough that you are not overly concerned with its obvious shortcomings. I suppose that any game that places you in the fins of a growing, angry as hell bull shark that can mutate and grow. These mutations provide your shark with gain special abilities is not a game that would ever take itself too seriously.

Maneater is a game...

Much More Planned for State of Decay Franchise

Undead Labs' Jeff Strain says that the team has some "long-term ambitions" in store for the State of Decay franchise.

In speaking with Polygon, the founder of the company talks about their deal with Microsoft and his desire to make use of Microsoft's Azure cloud system on the Xbox One. This also includes his continued hopes of including multiplayer in future releases.
"We have long-term ambitions for the franchise. Wherever we take this, in terms of sequels, multiplayer

Nintendo Being Sued Over Wii U Patent Dispute

Texas based company, Secure Axcess, has filed a lawsuit against Nintendo claiming that the company is infringing on a patent it filed in 2000 for "multiscreen personal computer display method apparatus." As you can probably already tell, the lawsuit's main focus is on the Wii U and its use of the Wii U gamepad. The lawsuit goes beyond Nintendo, however, as Secure Axcess is also targeting retailers such as GameStop, Target, and Amazon for selling the device without a "license or authoriz...

Sony Pictures Registers Domains for BioShock Movie

Sony Pictures was discovered to have recently registered three new domains pointing towards a BioShock movie. As with most of these cases, it could simply be an attempt to lock down the domains and may not indicate any actual film is being worked on. However, it doesn't hurt to keep that hope alive. Sony Pictures now holds the rights to BioShock-Movie.com, BioShock-Movie.net, and Bio-Shock.net. This is yet another in a long string of potential BioShock film adaptations that were...

New 30 Minute Gameplay Video for Wolfenstein: The New Order

If you perhaps missed the latest Twitch stream for Wolfenstein: The New Order, then you missed out on about 30 minutes of fresh gameplay footage.

Fret not as the gameplay footage has made its way to YouTube and can be viewed below. If you don't want to be spoiled by absolutely anything, you should probably avoid watching most, if not all, of the video.

This gameplay footage shows off some early levels of the game, similar to what was shown recently at PAX East...

  • Red Orchestra 2 Update Adds New Transports, Gametype, Map, and a New Update System

Fans of Unreal Engine titles are already well acquainted with how terrible it is to update those games. We're talking about multiple GB updates even when something super minor is changed. It's the nature of the engine. That is, until now.

With today's update to Red Orchestra 2, Tripwire has incorporated the "Brewing System" into the game. That means that after today's massive 8.5GB update, future updates should be significantly smaller in size, say only a few hundred MB. In addition...

Some Legitimate Elder Scrolls Online Accounts Incorrectly Banned

Bethesda has gone on record with admitting that they made a few mistakes in a recent wave of account bans from The Elder Scrolls Online. The mass bans were carried out against alleged gold spammers, botters, and exploiters, but unfortunately a few legitimate players were caught up in that wave.
As part of our continuing effort to combat gold spammers, botters and exploiters, we recently banned a number of accounts. After several players appealed, we were able to investigate the matter

  • Garry's Mod LUA Exploit Leads to Spread of "Coughing Virus"

Garry's Mod LUA Exploit Leads to Spread of "Coughing Virus"

Earlier today, some malicious code started to spread through many Garry's Mod servers. This code forced a server to push a .dll file to a user's computer. This would then spam the word "cough" to friends of the affected player and also through in-game chat. It would also change the affected user's name and also append exclamation points to the front of affected servers (so as to appear first on the server browser when sorting by name). This seems to have been the extent of the damages ca...

  • Battlefield 1942 is Free on Origin... Again

Battlefield 1942 is Free on Origin... Again

Once again, EA is just giving away Battlefield 1942 through Origin. Last month EA gave out Dead Space as part of their new On the House program. This month it's Battlefield 1942 that's free, though their On the House page still lists Dead Space. So either this is a non-On the House free game and a limited time offer, or it's going to be an On the House deal, or it's a new permanent price reduction, or I have no idea what I'm talking about. No matter what, just go get the game since ...
