EA Attempts to Distance Themselves from 'Loot Boxes' by Calling them 'Surprise Mechanics'

If it walks like a duck and talks like a duck, it must be a surprise mechanic.

EA and loot boxes, loot boxes and EA. In some people's minds, there is no better pairing save for "gamers" and "rising up." They have included loot box mechanics in games like Madden with their Madden Ultimate Team card packs, FIFA with the similar Ultimate Team mode, Battlefield 1, and perhaps most notably, Star Wars Battlefront 2.

Gone Home Heading to Unspecified Consoles

Gone Home is slated to come out on "consoles." The latest blog entry from The Fullbright Company wasn't too specific on which consoles they meant, but I'm going to assume something with "Xbox" and/or "PlayStation" in the name. I know, call me crazy.

Midnight City is to thank for the console version of this game that seems to have really divided the gamers of the world on whether or not it's good. Both teams plan to release more specific details on this "console" release later on down the road....

They're calling it the "ultimate Titanfall gaming experience" and given what the grand prize includes, that description sounds rather spot on.

  • Most of Titanfall's 50GB Install Size is Taken Up by Localized Language Audio Files

Allegedly, most of the 50GB install size for Titanfall is due to almost 35GB of audio files. For some unknown reason, Respawn and EA have decided to include every localized language pack into one install. That means that no matter what language you speak, you will have every language included in your download and install of the game.

This comes from a user on the Escapist forums. I do not have the game myself and cannot verify these claims but he did provide a couple of images as proof. The first is seen above from the unpacking process. The second one, below, shows the language directory.

    Yes, that ...

In a statement issued to Polygon, a Sony rep did not really comment on the shortage but instead said that the camera is in high demand.
"While we do not comment on the sales figures, shipment or monthly production quantity, PlayStation Camera remains in high demand, and we've been pleased with the camera's popularity among PlayStation 4 owners. We continue

EA Says Battlefield 4's Troubled Launch Did Not Damage the Franchise

Blake Jorgensen, the CFO of EA, said that Battlefield 4's massive number of issues have not damaged the brand.
"We haven't seen any damage," Jorgensen said today at the Morgan Stanley Technology, Media &, Telecom Conference in San Francisco. "Clearly we're very focused on protecting that brand." The game has sold well and continues to sell well, he added.

He says that consumers have been "very responsive" to the patches that DICE has released so far. I'm not exactly sure that's the right phrase being used there.
"We've also tried to provide extra content to the consumers to make sure they keep coming back and playing the
