It's official.

Microsoft has confirmed that they are in the process of acquiring ZeniMax Media for a cool $7.5 billion (USD) in cash. ZeniMax is the parent company of studios like Bethesda, creator of The Elder Scrolls, as well as id Software, the developer behind DOOM.

This acquisition is reportedly the "biggest video game purchase ever" for Microsoft.

At present, Bethesda has two games that are slated to arrive in 2021. Those include Deathloop...

$400 for digital-only, $500 for the full system.

The next-gen is now fully in gear. With Microsoft announcing the price and release date of their Xbox Series X, the only piece of the puzzle that remained was what Sony would do with the PlayStation 5. Today, the company announced that the Digital Edition will retail for $399.99 (USD) while the "regular" version with a disc drive will retail for $499.99.

Both consoles are expected to launch in select countries...

EA Kills Off Origin

Origin to be replaced by more generic naming convention.

First, EA ditched their EA Access and Origin Access branding in favor of EA Play. This happened almost exactly one month ago in August 2020. Now, EA is ready to ditch their Origin desktop client with something a little more generic.

EA is changing the name of their Origin client to "EA Desktop." EA is calling their new app a "next-generation PC gaming platform."

This renaming will...

Review: Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 + 2

Feeling younger in my mind.

When you think of the heyday of Tony Hawk titles, you probably think back to the games prior to weird skateboard controllers and the abysmal Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5. You think back to a time in your childhood when you would turn on your old CRT television, power on the PlayStation, and digitally pull off some sick tricks while Goldfinger's Superman blasted in the background. The first couple of Tony Hawk games hold a special place in a lot of our hearts...

Life is Strange - Episode 1 Part 2

Welcome back to the second of three parts for Life is Strange Episode 1: Chrysalis. We continue our adventure today much in the same way as the first part, with me reading some on screen text and keeping quiet during the cutscenes. Enjoy!

Welcome to Life is Strange. This is the continuation of Episode 1: Chrysalis.

  • Garena Limiting Number of LGBT League of Legends Players to One Per Team Due to 'Unfair Advantages'

Garena, the group that runs and operates League of Legends in Southeast Asia, Taiwan, and the Philippines is hosting an all-women eSports tournament! That's the good news. The bad news is that they are putting a limit on the number of LGBT people allowed per team. That number? One. One person, and one person only per team is allowed to be a lesbian or a trans woman. Why? Apparently any more than one per team would result in that team having an "unfair advantage." Not only that, ...

Dead or Alive 5: Last Round Delayed on Steam, New Launch Trailer

Dead or Alive 5: Last Round has a new launch trailer today and some bad news for those looking forward to the release of the game on PC. Yes, the PC version of the game has been delayed. The PC version, by way of Steam, was slated to release alongside its console counterparts on February 20. It has now been pushed back over a month to March 30. Bummer. There is some good news though. A new launch trailer came out today for the game and the game is still on track for its February release on ...

Hifumi Kono, the creator of the Clock Tower horror games and Takashi Shimizu, the director on The Grudge, want to scare you all over again. The duo have a new Kickstarter underway for Project Scissors: NightCry. They just released their first gameplay trailer today for the game.

We need your financial support to make this a reality, though. Kono-san and his team at Nude Maker are working from a humble office, trying to make it all come together. The creators involved, including

  • 343 Delays Content Update for Halo: The Master Chief Collection and Re-Evaluates Need for Beta Testing

Due to the still ongoing issues plaguing Halo: The Master Chief Collection, 343 Industries has decided to postpone the next content update for the game. This also means that the patch associated with it needs some "additional time and testing" prior to being released.

This patch is supposed to include fixes for matchmaking search times, match search successes, improve lobby functionality, hit registration, matchmaking ranking, and more. Oddly enough, the studio is also rethinking...
