Bethesda Celebrates 25 Years of Elder Scrolls with a Morrowind Giveaway

Bethesda is celebrating 25 years of The Elder Scrolls today. On this day back in 1994, Bethesda released the first Elder Scrolls title called The Elder Scrolls: Arena for DOS. And while it's not that easy to play the original Elder Scrolls on modern machines, you should still be able to play The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind.

It's probably a good thing that FOR TODAY ONLY (March 25, 2019), you can get a free copy of Morrowind to keep forever and ever for the life of the Bethesda.net Launcher. Here is how you can snag your free copy of Morrowind, plus some other freebies. Do...

Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 Announced, Pre-orders Available Now

After multiple weeks and a few months of teases, including a long running ARG surrounding a dating app called Tinder, we now have an official announcement of Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2. Paradox Interactive made the big reveal just moments ago via a GDC party. The party was "supposed" to be for a new Tinder reveal but thanks to some unintentionally cheesy live-action role playing, it turned out to be a big reveal for Bloodlines 2.

This is a direct sequel to the previous title that came out back in 2004 on the very same day that Half-Life 2 was released....

Valve Finally Shows Off New Steam UI Overhaul

An update to the Steam user interface and library has been in the works at Valve for years now. Today, the company finally feels comfortable enough to show off their Steam UI overhaul and did just that during a presentation at GDC 2019. I'd like to first thank Game Informer and PC Gamer (and again) for a lot of the information and screenshots you'll see below.

Library
First up, let's talk about the changes coming to how your Library will look and function with this new update. The Friends list is now integrated into a column on the right side. No idea if this is an optional...

Nintendo Embraces Indie - Cuphead, Darkwood, a Dancing Zelda, and More Revealed Today for Switch

Are you ready for the invasion of the Indies on the Nintendo Switch? Earlier today, a new Nindies Showcase for Spring 2019 outlined a good number of independent developed titles that are coming soon to the portable console otherwise known as the Switch.

Some of the highlights in today's announcement include Cuphead from Studio MDHR. This one will be out on April 18. In addition, Cadence of Hyrule - Crypt of the NecroDancer Featuring the Legend of Zelda was also announced today. This rhythm-action title takes its catchy tunes to Hyrule and features playable Link and Princess...

The Outer Worlds, Remedy's Control, Detroit: Become Human, and More Announced as Epic Games Store Timed Exclusives

As part of today's GDC presentation, Epic Games announced a number of timed exclusives that are coming first to the Epic Games Store. Among these games are The Outer Worlds, Control from Remedy Entertainment, and even some PlayStation 4 exclusives like Detroit: Become Human from Quantic Dream.

Some of these titles, such as The Outer Worlds, will also appear on the Microsoft Store for Windows 10. I guess this just lends more confirmation that Epic is less about purchasing exclusives and more about simply paying companies to keep their games off of Steam. Consumers should not...

Massive 10GB Launch Day Patch for Sniper Elite 3 on Xbox One

A 10GB patch will be waiting for players of Sniper Elite 3 on the Xbox One on the day of its release. Rebellion says that the patch is that massive due to issues with how Microsoft patches retail discs with digital download versions.
"The main part of the update is to sync data between the game's retail discs and the Xbox Live digital download edition of the game. In the several weeks between sending the code off to manufacture and release, rather than sit around or take a break, we've continued to work on the game, making improvements and optimisations. "We've also begun work on multiplayer DLC and a small part of this update is to intro

Games for Windows Live Not Shutting Down

Microsoft just punked the entire gaming world. Their only good decision was their choice to shut the annoying service down early July 2014. However, they have now come out to say that they will not be shutting the service down. I'm sure PC gamers and developers that scrambled to change their titles are absolutely thrilled at this latest 180 from Microsoft.
Microsoft said to Game Informer: "We are continuing to support the Games for Windows Live service. As previously announced, as part of the retirement of Microsoft Points the Xbox.com PC marketplace was closed. Although customers are unable to purchase new games from

  • Updated: Official 30 Minute HD Gameplay Video for Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

Update: We have replaced the video with an official, direct-feed, HD release of the gameplay footage courtesy of Konami!

Original: Seen below is the same gameplay presentation for Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain that you'd have seen if you went to E3. The footage in the video below is a fan recording from the Twitch live stream that Konami and Hideo Kojima put on this morning. Again, this footage was recorded from a stream, so the quality is undoubtedly hampered by this. Feel free to watch it while we continue to wait for some direct-feed footage from Konami.

Or, you can instantly save the previous 10 minutes of gameplay if you missed something great by not manually recording.

EA and DICE Admit Battlefield 4 Launch was "Unacceptable"

I know your hearts are probably stopped after reading that headline, but just take a deep breath and try to soldier on through the news story, okay? Yes, EA and DICE have now admitted that Battlefield 4's launch was "unacceptable."

In speaking with Eurogamer, EA CEO Andrew Wilson and DICE GM Karl-Magnus Troedsson have said that the game suffered due to its ambition. (Note: This is a very, very long interview. I strongly urge you to read through the full Eurogamer article yourself in addition to the cherry-picked quotes I selected below.)

Alright, let's see where they go with this.
Andrew Wilson: "Think about what Battlefield 4 was: 64 player multiplayer, giant maps, 1080p, Levolution that was changing the gameplay design in an emergent way. There is a

  • PSA: Play a 48-Hour Trial for Titanfall - Origin Game Time Program Detailed

EA kicked off their new "Origin Game Time" program today. This program allows players to give a trial run to a game of EA's choosing for a period of 48 hours. The first game offered for this new program? Titanfall.

From the sounds of it, despite the trial beginning this weekend, the 48-hour time period itself doesn't actually start until you launch the game for the first time. That actually sounds like an incredibly smart idea.
