Bethesda Celebrates 25 Years of Elder Scrolls with a Morrowind Giveaway

Bethesda is celebrating 25 years of The Elder Scrolls today. On this day back in 1994, Bethesda released the first Elder Scrolls title called The Elder Scrolls: Arena for DOS. And while it's not that easy to play the original Elder Scrolls on modern machines, you should still be able to play The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind.

It's probably a good thing that FOR TODAY ONLY (March 25, 2019), you can get a free copy of Morrowind to keep forever and ever for the life of the Bethesda.net Launcher. Here is how you can snag your free copy of Morrowind, plus some other freebies. Do...

Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 Announced, Pre-orders Available Now

After multiple weeks and a few months of teases, including a long running ARG surrounding a dating app called Tinder, we now have an official announcement of Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2. Paradox Interactive made the big reveal just moments ago via a GDC party. The party was "supposed" to be for a new Tinder reveal but thanks to some unintentionally cheesy live-action role playing, it turned out to be a big reveal for Bloodlines 2.

This is a direct sequel to the previous title that came out back in 2004 on the very same day that Half-Life 2 was released....

Valve Finally Shows Off New Steam UI Overhaul

An update to the Steam user interface and library has been in the works at Valve for years now. Today, the company finally feels comfortable enough to show off their Steam UI overhaul and did just that during a presentation at GDC 2019. I'd like to first thank Game Informer and PC Gamer (and again) for a lot of the information and screenshots you'll see below.

Library
First up, let's talk about the changes coming to how your Library will look and function with this new update. The Friends list is now integrated into a column on the right side. No idea if this is an optional...

Nintendo Embraces Indie - Cuphead, Darkwood, a Dancing Zelda, and More Revealed Today for Switch

Are you ready for the invasion of the Indies on the Nintendo Switch? Earlier today, a new Nindies Showcase for Spring 2019 outlined a good number of independent developed titles that are coming soon to the portable console otherwise known as the Switch.

Some of the highlights in today's announcement include Cuphead from Studio MDHR. This one will be out on April 18. In addition, Cadence of Hyrule - Crypt of the NecroDancer Featuring the Legend of Zelda was also announced today. This rhythm-action title takes its catchy tunes to Hyrule and features playable Link and Princess...

The Outer Worlds, Remedy's Control, Detroit: Become Human, and More Announced as Epic Games Store Timed Exclusives

As part of today's GDC presentation, Epic Games announced a number of timed exclusives that are coming first to the Epic Games Store. Among these games are The Outer Worlds, Control from Remedy Entertainment, and even some PlayStation 4 exclusives like Detroit: Become Human from Quantic Dream.

Some of these titles, such as The Outer Worlds, will also appear on the Microsoft Store for Windows 10. I guess this just lends more confirmation that Epic is less about purchasing exclusives and more about simply paying companies to keep their games off of Steam. Consumers should not...

    Tekken World Tour 2019 Announced

The Tekken World Tour 2019 was officially announced today. This new esports tournament series returns thanks to a partnership between Bandai Namco and Twitch. As you may safely assume, Twitch will be the go-to location to watch all of the latest Tekken 7 action. New this year for the World Tour is "more action" along with new locations, returning favorites (whatever that means), and "innovative tournament categories enabling more players to earn Tekken World Tour Ranking Points."

This is all on top of a prize pool that totals over $185,500 (USD). The World Tour Finals will have a $100,000 baseline prize purse for the best players. All of this begins on April 20, 2019 in France. ...

  • Microsoft Reveals World of Warcraft Now Runs on DirectX 12 on Windows 7

Microsoft Reveals World of Warcraft Now Runs on DirectX 12 on Windows 7

I really have no idea why Microsoft is promoting this news, yet here we are. A new MSDN blog post was put up today by Jianye Lu, program manager at Microsoft, that talks about how World of Warcraft is a DirectX 12 game running on Windows 7.

There are a lot of things simultaneously incredibly weird and incredibly interesting about this news. It marks the first major title to use DirectX 12 on Windows 7. That's pretty neat. However, DirectX 12 has largely been a Windows 10 exclusive API. It's actually been a pretty big reason behind pushing some people to upgrade to Windows...

  • Gearbox Teases Some Borderlands Reveal for PAX East 2019

Gearbox Teases Some Borderlands Reveal for PAX East 2019

Late in February, Gearbox announced that they will have a presence at PAX East 2019. Today, the development studio put an exclamation point on that announcement by teasing something that looks a hell of a lot like the Borderlands art style.

The tweet was nothing more than the ubiquitous eyes emoji 👀 along with a stylized road sign saying "March 28" and "Boston, MA" in the Borderlands style. I'm assuming this is going to be Gearbox's big Borderlands 3 reveal. It's either that or they are just being massive jerks and there won't be anything Borderlands related...

  • Google Teases Their New Gaming Console in GDC 2019 Promo Video

Google Teases Their New Gaming Console in GDC 2019 Promo Video

It's no secret that Google has been working on a gaming console. They've had a patent filed since late 2018 showing off the potential design for the new console's controller. It's kind of the typical console controller design that most of us have already come to know and probably love.

It's currently unclear as to what Google has planned for this device. Multiple sources have said that it will be a console that focuses on streaming. However, some rumors have suggested that the hardware included will make it more powerful than an Xbox One X. And while a lot of great hardware...

  • Doom: Annihilation is a New Film. It's a Direct-to-Video Release. The Trailer is Horrible. Try to Act Surprised.

Look, I pretty much said all that needed to be said in the headline. There is indeed a new Doom movie coming. It's being put out by Universal 1440 Entertainment, a division of Universal Pictures Home Entertainment. It will be a direct-to-video release slated to hit this Fall.

For you youngsters at home, this is what a "video" refers to. While they may not be around all that much, saying something is "direct-to-video" means that it's probably too terrible for a theatrical release and is looking to make a quick buck by just coming out directly on Blu-ray...

  • The Forgotten City to Bring Time Loops and Murder Mystery to the Xbox One in Late 2019

Later this year, Modern Storyteller will bring The Forgotten City to the Xbox One. This game blends time loops and murder mysteries together in one package deal.

The Forgotten City was already announced for the PC so this Xbox One announcement today is all-new for both me and you. The Forgotten City will be shown off at PAX East later this month. If you're going to PAX East, be sure to stop by booth 13121 for a chance to play the demo.

If the name "The Forgotten City" sounds familiar, it may be because you played the mod version of it for The Elder Scrolls...

  • Hunt: Showdown Coming to Xbox Game Preview this Spring

Hunt: Showdown Coming to Xbox Game Preview this Spring

Spring is just around the corner. With it will come flowers, allergies, scary bugs, and the release of Hunt: Showdown on the Xbox One Game Preview program. Crytek revealed some of what players can expect when this game is unleashed onto the unsuspecting Xbox crowd. There is even a new teaser of the gameplay to provide you a glimpse of the action in this PvPvE style game.

In short: Hunt: Showdown is a first-person game that combines player vs. player gameplay in an environment that also has plenty of nasty things that want you dead. Ten players, typically made up of teams of...
