Review: Half-Life Alyx is VR at Its Finest

A watershed moment for VR gaming.

In the past several days, I have gone back and forth on what I wanted to write for the Half-Life: Alyx review. I have gone through several revisions and at least two full rewrites now. It's not that I am at a loss for words. It's more that I just have too much that I want to say. I want to go on and on about how neat this sequence was or how refined this aspect was. The result of that review was just some rambling word salad that made for a poor reading...

The Last of Us Part II Delayed Indefinitely

This decision comes direct from Sony.

In the early afternoon on April 2, word came direct from Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE), that both The Last of Us Part II and Marvel's Iron Man VR are delayed "until further notice." The reason behind these delays is, you guessed it, due to the ongoing global crisis.

Word first came from the official PlayStation Twitter account. ...

Valve Offers Suggestions on Reducing Steam Bandwidth

Budget that bandwidth during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Everyone is at home. If not, they probably should be. 2020 has been crazy wild and it's still only March. One of the things people have been doing more of, is playing games. What else is there to do when you're under quarantine? Work? HA! Screw that!

The problem with being at home all the time like this, is that the network in your home, country, or even globally can be impacted significantly. People have more time now...

Review: Persona 5 Royal

A master class in improving upon what is already great.

In September 2016, the original release of Persona 5 made its debut in Japan for the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4. It eventually had its Western market debut in April 2017. The game was developed by P-Studio and published in North America by Atlus. Despite a few minor issues, it was largely regarded as a fantastic JRPG with excellent art, an intriguing cast of characters, enjoyable gameplay, and even a rad soundtrack. Persona...

This past day has seen a few leaks surface for a Gears of War Remaster for the Xbox One. The persons doing the leaking evidently forgot that their names show up in the media that they released. As a result of the NDA breach by these persons, Microsoft has gone ahead and temporarily bricked their Xbox One consoles.

In the light of recent events,

Yesterday, we reported that the console versions of The Elder Scrolls Online would make use of one-time activation keys and would thus eliminate the possibility for trading the game in or renting it. This was based off of a posting on the official forums from a ZeniMax representative.

Today, Bethesda issued a correction and said what's really going on.
"The physical console version of The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited does not require a one-time game code," says

  • Console Version of Elder Scrolls Online to Require Key Redemption - Cannot Be Traded

An official forum posting by "Gary A." from ZeniMax Online Studios said that those who purchase The Elder Scrolls Online on home consoles will need to redeem a key in order to play the game. Yes, the console version of the game has a key redemption tied to it just like the PC version of the game. And yes, this also means that you cannot trade the game away after that key is redeemed.
To clarify, you will need a unique game registration code in order to play the game, and used copies will

Nintendo Schedules E3 Event at the Same Time as Square Enix

Last month, Square Enix announced that they would hold their E3 2015 press conference on June 16 at 9AM. That has traditionally been the same time that Nintendo holds their own E3 conferences, at least if recent history is anything to go on. As expected, Nintendo didn't seem to let it bother them too much as they announced today that they would keep with tradition and hold their E3 conference at 9AM on June 16. Of course, Nintendo's event is a bit different as they are again expected to have an ...
