Amnesia: The Bunker Review (PC)

Frictional Games plays it safe. Perhaps a little too safe.

Frictional Games is known for crafting some of the most memorable horror game experiences over the past 15 years. They began with the Prenumbra series, a trio of titles that gave us our first taste of Frictional's penchant for blending survival horror with physics-based environmental puzzles. The studio then saw a spike in popularity with their next release, Amnesia: The Dark Descent. Amnesia: The Dark Descent expanded upon the...

After Us Review (PS5)

After Us offers a glimpse of our future and a warning of things to come.

A gaming experience where you engage in thoughtful introspection, wordless encounters, and some platforming across Earth's many diverse locations to undo the devastation caused by global warming sounds like an intriguing idea on paper. Its execution in After Us, however, leaves quite a bit to be desired. Some awkward platforming, poor combat, and performance woes will ultimately leave you feeling a little less...

Redfall is Arkane's Worst Game Ever

It's also the worst "AAA" developed title in recent memory.

It was a struggle to finish Redfall. It was an absolute struggle thanks to performance issues, technical deficiencies, crashes, broken A.I., and uninspired quest design. It was the antithesis of fun and I pushed myself to complete the game out of pure spite.

Prior to playing Redfall, I saw Arkane as a studio that could do no wrong when it comes to their output. Dark Messiah of Might and Magic in 2006...

Watch YouTube, take notes, chat, and more.

Right now, you can opt into the new beta for the Steam client that makes some drastic changes to the In-Game Overlay. Now, you...

UK Blocks Microsoft Activision Merger

The CMA claims the deal would harm cloud gaming.

Cloud gaming. Cloud gaming is the reason why the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) in the UK voted to block the $69 billion deal that would see Microsoft taking over Activision Blizzard.

The decision didn't come down to concerns over Call of Duty exclusivity or anything that would make some measure of sense. No, it came down to the CMA being concerned that the deal would "undermine new and innovative" competition...

Watch Almost 20 Seconds of The Last of Us HBO Series

We finally get a look at The Last of Us in a format that isn't a still image.

For those who have been craving literally any new media from the upcoming HBO series for The Last of Us, today is your lucky day. Admittedly it's not much at all, it's still quite a bit more than the single still image we were given back in September 2021.

Diablo 4 Ditches Loot Boxes for Battle Passes

Your money has no power here.

Blizzard says that instead of any sort of loot box mechanics in Diablo 4, they will instead embrace the Season Pass system. This makes a lot of sense seeing as how Blizzard also announced the removal of loot boxes from Overwatch and Overwatch 2 earlier this month.

Blizzard made this announcement as part of its latest development update. They also confirmed that Diablo 4 will be a full-priced title, so while you are free to spend money on cosmetics...

Battlefield 2042 Player Discovers Mysterious Crate and Cryptic Message

A teaser for Season 2 or something more?

Easter eggs and wild ARGs are really nothing new to the Battlefield franchise, but so far, we haven't really had any in Battlefield 2042. A few hours ago, Reddit user TheSacredShrimp shared a screenshot of a unique Playercard background that contains a bit of a cryptic message.

TheSacredShrimp shared this image through the LowSodium2042 subreddit.

The background is entitled "They are Everywhere" and depicts what looks...

Old id and Bethesda Games Added to PC Game Pass

Five new Game Pass titles, or four if you ignore Battlespire.

QuakeCon 2022 began earlier today with a little welcome message from Marty Stratton. I'm sure it was great. I don't know, I didn't watch it. What I do know is that Bethesda and id Software added some classic PC titles to Game Pass today. These are in addition to three free games available now through the Microsoft Store, plus three "new" games available for sale through the Microsoft Store.

    As of earlier...

  • Dead Island 2 Release Date, Screenshots, Cover, and Story Details Leaked on Amazon

Dead Island 2 seems to be back from the dead... again.

Dead Island 2 was announced way back at E3 2014. The announcement trailer was pretty great. It was supposed to be out Spring 2015. Then it was delayed until 2016. Then the Dead Island 2 developer, Yager, was dropped by Deep Silver. Then in 2016 it was reported that Sumo Digital took over the development of Dead Island 2. Then in 2019, Sumo Digital partnered with 2K for some mystery projects, with at least one presumed to be Dead...

EA Honors Massive FIFA 23 Pricing Error

A discount of almost 99.9% will be honored by EA.

For a brief period of time, pre-orders of FIFA 23 went on sale via the Epic Games Store in India for just 4.80 rupees. A quick conversion turns those 4.80 rupees into just $0.06 (USD).

If this price error wasn't bad enough, it wasn't for the basic version of FIFA 23, which retails for 3,499 rupees (or about $44 USD). The pricing error was actually for the Ultimate Edition of FIFA 23, which normally retailed for 4,799 rupees...

The world's biggest modding site won't tolerate the intolerant.

Spider-Man Remastered recently released on PC and, for the most part, people have been enjoying the game without issue. Of course, there was at least one person that didn't much like the depiction of a handful of Pride flags present in the game. This person created a mod that replaces the Pride flags with the American flag, aka the Stars and Stripes.

The mod was uploaded to Nexusmods, which is arguably the...

  • What June 2023 Games Releases Will You Buy?
    by Shawn Zipay
    It's a fairly stacked month.

May and into June is usually when the mid-year lull begins for new game releases. Yet here we are in June 2023 and there are some big games either already out or coming out in the weeks ahead.

There are several games coming out this month, many of which you might call "bangers" that you might just happen to have your eye on. This month's poll is simple and probably a retread of a poll (or several) that have been done in the past....
