Amnesia: The Bunker Review (PC)
Frictional Games plays it safe. Perhaps a little too safe.
Frictional Games is known for crafting some of the most memorable horror game experiences over the past 15 years. They began with the Prenumbra series, a trio of titles that gave us our first taste of Frictional's penchant for blending survival horror with physics-based environmental puzzles. The studio then saw a spike in popularity with their next release, Amnesia: The Dark Descent. Amnesia: The Dark Descent expanded upon the...

After Us Review (PS5)
After Us offers a glimpse of our future and a warning of things to come.
A gaming experience where you engage in thoughtful introspection, wordless encounters, and some platforming across Earth's many diverse locations to undo the devastation caused by global warming sounds like an intriguing idea on paper. Its execution in After Us, however, leaves quite a bit to be desired. Some awkward platforming, poor combat, and performance woes will ultimately leave you feeling a little less...

Redfall is Arkane's Worst Game Ever
It's also the worst "AAA" developed title in recent memory.
It was a struggle to finish Redfall. It was an absolute struggle thanks to performance issues, technical deficiencies, crashes, broken A.I., and uninspired quest design. It was the antithesis of fun and I pushed myself to complete the game out of pure spite.
Prior to playing Redfall, I saw Arkane as a studio that could do no wrong when it comes to their output. Dark Messiah of Might and Magic in 2006...

Watch YouTube, take notes, chat, and more.
Valve just released a new beta update for Steam that includes a wealth of new features, updated old features, and some under the hood changes. While we don't typically write about updates released for the Steam Client Beta, this particular update had enough cool new features that it was worth a mention.
Right now, you can opt into the new beta for the Steam client that makes some drastic changes to the In-Game Overlay. Now, you...

UK Blocks Microsoft Activision Merger
The CMA claims the deal would harm cloud gaming.
Cloud gaming. Cloud gaming is the reason why the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) in the UK voted to block the $69 billion deal that would see Microsoft taking over Activision Blizzard.
The decision didn't come down to concerns over Call of Duty exclusivity or anything that would make some measure of sense. No, it came down to the CMA being concerned that the deal would "undermine new and innovative" competition...

PlayStation 4 Pro owners will soon get to play the excellent Rocket League in glorious 4K starting February 21. Even better, the game will still run at 60FPS for most arenas at that resolution. The PlayStation Blog has some information about what this Pro patch includes.
On February 21, we will release a new update that allows Rocket League to run at both 1080p (on a standard PS4) and 4K (on PS4 Pro) at 60 frames per second in all arenas for single and two-player split-screen modes.... -

Eight New Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Screenshots
A handful of new screenshots for the upcoming Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy remake have made their way online this evening. They seem to come from Game Informer but for the life of me I cannot see where on their site they originated.
Either way, enjoy these new screenshots! For the first time, we get a look at the Crash Bandicoot games beyond the first title.

Disney Dumps PewDiePie After One Too Many Anti-Semitic Comments
Felix "PewDiePie" Kjellberg was fired by Disney and Disney owned Maker Studios this week. He was dropped like a bad habit. Why? Probably because PewDiePie is anti-Semitic. Oh sure, he has tried to claim it was all a joke, but that's kind of a terrible excuse, especially when it happens more than once.
Here's what happened: Back on January 11, Kjellberg published a video that contained a segment where he hired a couple of men from the service Fiverr to hold up a banner that... -

The Hunt is On in New theHunter: Call of the Wild Trailer
No, that isn't a typo in the headline. The upcoming game from Avalanche Studios, Expansive Worlds, and astragon Entertainment is actually called theHunter: Call of the Wild. Guess what? It's a game about hunting! You're going to be hunting on a few different lands. This latest trailer shows off the game's "second major hunting reserve, dubbed Layton Lake District."
Set in the Pacific Northwest, Layton Lake District offers a dramatic departure from the mellow autumn hues of the previously... -

According to Activision's Bobby Kotick and Thomas Tippl, the 2017 release of Call of Duty will bring the series "back to its roots" in terms of combat.

People Are Losing Their Minds Over Steam Direct Pricing That Hasn't Even Been Announced Yet
People are absolutely losing their minds over a $5,000 fee that was merely mentioned in Valve's new blog posting about Steam Direct. Oh yeah, Valve announced Steam Direct today. Steam Direct is slated to completely replace Steam Greenlight. That's the good news!
The bad news is that people are more focusing more on one particular aspect of today's announcement: Pricing. See, Valve asked developers how much they would be willing to pay to get their game added to Steam Direct.... -

Monthly Poll

-
by Shawn ZipayIt's a fairly stacked month.
May and into June is usually when the mid-year lull begins for new game releases. Yet here we are in June 2023 and there are some big games either already out or coming out in the weeks ahead.
There are several games coming out this month, many of which you might call "bangers" that you might just happen to have your eye on. This month's poll is simple and probably a retread of a poll (or several) that have been done in the past....Street Fighter 60%0Amnesia: The Bunker0%0Diablo 450.00%1Aliens: Dark Descent0%0Final Fantasy 16100.00%2AEW Fight Forever0%0Crash Team Rumble0%0-
