Steam Summer Sale 2019 is Now Live

Wallets be aware.

If you noticed Steam is loading slowly today, or even not at all, there is a good reason for it. The Steam Summer Sale 2019 kicked off just about an hour ago today. It seems as though this year's official name for the sale is the "Steam Grand Prix Summer Sale" and it runs from now (June 25) through until July 9, 2019.

During this time, you'll be able to save a lot of money on a lot of games. I'm talking about thousands of games being on sale here. You want Assassin's Creed Odyssey for 50% off? You got it.

How's about Devil May...

Steam Will Not Support Ubuntu 19.10 and Later

But will still support Linux.

Valve is one of the big reasons why gaming on Linux has seen such a massive surge in recent years. One of the biggest pushes came not from specially created Linux builds of games, but from Proton, a fork of Wine that Valve released to allow for games to become playable on Linux that may not have native Linux support. At present, there are over 5,400 games that work through Steam on Linux thanks to Proton.

Over the years, Valve has recommended that those looking to get into using Linux try out Ubuntu Linux. Last Friday, that all changed....

Fortnite '14 Days of Summer' Event Begins Today

A fortnight of Fortnite.

Today marks the start of Fortnite's "14 Days of Summer" event. Epic Games says that for each day, players can drop into Fortnite for something new. This event applies to both the still fairly popular Battle Royale mode and the less popular, but still enjoyable, Save the World mode.

In Battle Royale a new item will be unvaulted every day for 24 hours. There is going to be a new "LTM" featured each day. This is in addition to new daily challenges and free wards. There are also going to be new outfits "and more" featured...

Review: Judgment (PS4)

The same, but different.

Sega, specifically the Yakuza team at Sega, are really damn good at what they do. The primarily Japanese developer has been on a roll with their stellar Yakuza-focused releases this generation that include Yakuza 0, Yakuza Kiwami and Kiwami 2, and Yakuza 6. All of these titles have received high praise both from myself and from other media outlets these past few years.

It should then come as no surprise that the level of quality found in those titles does not take any sort of hit with the team's latest release, Judgment. Make no mistake about...

EA Attempts to Distance Themselves from 'Loot Boxes' by Calling them 'Surprise Mechanics'

If it walks like a duck and talks like a duck, it must be a surprise mechanic.

EA and loot boxes, loot boxes and EA. In some people's minds, there is no better pairing save for "gamers" and "rising up." For the past several years now, the studio has been repeatedly under fire for how they included loot boxes in many of their titles. They have included loot box mechanics in games like Madden with their Madden Ultimate Team card packs, FIFA with the similar Ultimate Team mode, Battlefield 1, and perhaps most notably, Star Wars Battlefront 2.

In fact,...

Red Bull Gives You Exclusive Access to Destiny: The Taken King Content

Because Bungie so loves their fans, they decided to team up with Red Bull to give a piece of timed exclusive content to those who purchase specially marked cans of the energy drink. Not only that, but it's only on specially marked Red Bull drinks that you can only get from 7/11 stores. The cans provide two bonuses. The first is an in-game bonus XP consumable that grants a 50% XP bonus for 30 minutes. You can redeem multiple codes for multiple bonus XP consumables. The second is the real kicker. The code also opens up a "multi-stage mission in The Taken King." This content is supposedly a timed exclusive piece of cont...

People Can Fly Splits from Epic Games and Purchases the Bulletstorm IP

People Can Fly is once again their own, independent company. The studio has split off from Epic Games but not before they purchased the Bulletstorm IP from them.

In November 2013, People Can Fly was picked up by Epic Games. They were quickly renamed Epic Games Poland and that was that. They worked on Fortnite and Gears of War : Judgment while under the ownership of Epic. Prior to that they worked on Gears of War, Gears of War 2, and the Painkiller franchise.

The studio issued a small statement on their website.

    Happy 10th Anniversary Battlefield 2!

Battlefield 2, the game that not only played an important role in the lives of many of us but also was highly responsible for the soul and essence of the multiplayer shooters that we get today. It was undoubtedly an example of a game that we unfortunately don't get nowadays, a game full of innovation, of new ideas and concepts and with no fear to execute them. It was also thanks to this success that the Battlefield series managed to grow exponentially to what it is today. For the time it achieved a great many technical feats, including having great graphics, physics, destruction and lovely shooting mechanics. However, it was heavily simplified and casuali...

Batman: Arkham Knight 60FPS Workaround for PC Users

Batman: Arkham Knight came out tonight on all platforms. Unfortunately for those PC owners out there, the gameplay is capped at 30fps. Why? Not really sure. They have an in-game benchmark that most certainly goes above 30 but the game itself runs at 30 max.

That is unless you make this simple INI tweak!
    • With the game not running, go to your installation folder for Arkham Knight. It will be something like: \steamapps\common\Batman Arkham Knight
    • From there, navigate to the BmGame folder, then Config, then open up BMSystemSettings.ini in your favorite text editor. Once open, find where

  • Bungie Does a Poor Job Defending the Price for The Taken King and Rebuying Content

When pressed by Eurogamer to explain how they can justify selling The Taken King expansion for $40 while omitting content that players could only get if they re-purchased the entire game again, Bungie's Luke Wilson gave the PR equivalent of "because fuck you, give me money."
Eurogamer: So it may seem like a small thing but you're adding exclusive content to the game - three new dance emotes - that players can't get unless they rebuy the main game and the two existing DLCs. Is that right?

    Luke Smith:
"There is no way right now for you to get the new dance emotes without doing that. Those are Collector's Edition exclusive. We've set some stuff aside for that edition specifically to really make it appeal to fans who have engaged with the game already and also to people that will enter the game this autumn.

Can you see that some fans are confused
