Ubisoft Pulls Licenses for The Crew, Makes the Game Completely Inaccessible to Buyers

From the same company trying to sell you a $130 version of Star Wars Outlaws.

From announcing a $130 edition of Star Wars Outlaws to pulling game licenses from those that bought The Crew, Ubisoft sure is on a roll this week.

The Crew was Ubisoft's open-world racing game that was pulled from sale back in December 2023. As of March 31, 2024, Ubisoft shut down the online servers for The Crew. This effectively made the game unplayable across all platforms, including: PC,...

Tim Sweeney Called Valve 'Assholes' in Email to Gabe Newell, Valve COO Says 'You Mad Bro?'

Tim Sweeney is always mad.

The antitrust lawsuit against Valve from Wolfire Games got a little spicy this week. To quickly get you up to speed: Wolfire claims that Valve uses its position with Steam to control game prices and muscle out competition. Though the initial lawsuit against Valve was dismissed, Wolfire amended their suit in May 2022 and the legal battle was back on.

It may have taken almost two years, but we are now starting to see some of the documents that...

Multiple studios across all SIE regions impacted.

Sony just laid off about 900 people across multiple PlayStation studios around the world. These 900 or so laid off employees account for roughly 8% of the total workforce for Sony Interactive Entertainment.

President and CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment, Jim Ryan, announced the layoffs to the public today. The public statement came after an email was sent to all employees informing them of the layoffs. From Ryan's...

Xbox Confirms PlayStation 5 Releases, Diablo 4 on Game Pass, and Future Hardware Plans

No, Starfield and Indiana Jones are not going multi-platform any time soon.

The heads of Xbox stayed true to their word and were indeed a part of a special edition of the Official Xbox Podcast. During today's pre-recorded podcast and subsequent blog post, head of Xbox Phil Spencer stated that four Xbox exclusives are going to be multi-platform releases. Is it Starfield? Indiana Jones? Gears of War? Halo?! No, no, no, and no. Though Spencer did not specify what those four titles ...

  • Assassin's Creed Origins "Tales From the Tomb" Series Blends Gameplay and Comedy

Ubisoft tasked the creative agency, Heat, to make a series of 10 animated shorts for Assassin's Creed Origins. These shorts, at least according to Ubisoft, blend together comedy with gameplay.
Tales from the Tomb uses scenes re-created from real Ancient Egyptian art to imagine how everyday life might have been affected by the presence of sinister secret Orders and acrobatic Assassins. From a conversation about the use of performance-enhancing mummy dust in gladitorial fights to a

The Witcher 3 PlayStation 4 Pro Patch Enables 4K

The Witcher 3 on the PlayStation 4 just got that much better for those of you rocking a PlayStation 4 Pro console. CD Projekt RED released a patch today that includes 4K support along with a very slight boost to performance. The actual update is relatively small, so I wouldn't fret too much about it killing your bandwidth. However, since updates are usually cumulative when being calculated, you will need something like 20GB of free space on your storage device. People are already ...

    Fortnite Hits 7 Million Players

Fortnite sure has been busy these past couple of months. The game has grown to over 7 million players, which is about 6 million more players than it had at last check. Of course, that "last check" was only for the Fortnite Battle Royale game mode, so we were told. Today's milestone seems to be for all of Fortnite, though the accompanying image specifically says Fortnite Battle Royale. You know what? It's a lot of people playing some form of "Fortnite." 7 million people to be more pre...

Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen Out Now for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One

One of the best action-RPGs I've played in recent memory, Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen, is now available on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Capcom has brought over what is essentially the PC release of the game for the current generation of consoles. This includes a bump in visual fidelity and a package that includes the base game and the Dark Arisen expansion.
The dragons have returned to Gransys and now you can become the chosen Arisen and decide the fate of the world as the critically

Multiplayer Returns to 2005's Star Wars Battlefront II

GOG and Disney teamed up to deliver one hell of a surprise to Star Wars Battlefront II fans. I'm talking about the first Battlefront II, the one from 2005. You see, a long time ago (in 2014) the multiplayer for Battlefront II used GameSpy. GameSpy shut down and the multiplayer for Battlefront II died with it. Yes, some third-party solutions existed but there was never anything official. At least there wasn't anything official until now. Disney and GOG worked together to bring the classic...

    Review: Windjammers (PS4)

What's Old is New Again, But Still Kind of Old.

Windjammers is a blast from the past, for both better and for worse. The game excels at being a fast-paced game that relies partly on reflexes, partly on skill, and partly on actual strategy. The colorful 16-bit graphics look just as great now as they did back in 1994 when the game first came out for the Neo Geo. In fact, I would argue that right now is the perfect time for this Windjammers revival given how many new games...
