G2A Offers to Pay Media Outlets to Run Pre-Written Defense Article

Add it to the list.

Third-party gray market key reseller, G2A, has been under increased fire the past week. Sure, it's had its fair share of accusations and criticisms slung its way over the years, but nothing quite like what we've seen in the past week. Today, an email sent from G2A to a handful of website owners, attempted to manipulate the public image of the company in an incredibly scummy way.

The email included a "transparent" and "unbiased" pre-written article about G2A that presented a warped spin on the truth about stolen game keys. The "truth"...

EDF! EDF! EDF!

The fifth mainline installment in the man vs. bugs saga known as Earth Defense Force was announced to be coming to the PC. Not only that, but Earth Defense Force 5 is coming to the PC this week on Thursday, July 11. That's a mere three days away from today! You can presently add it to your Wishlist on Steam if you want.

Epic Promises to Cover Shenmue 3 Refunds for Problem They Created in the First Place

Then quickly announces this will happen again.

If you've been following the Shenmue 3 development saga for any length of time, you are probably well aware of a few things. First, you are probably well aware that the game pulled in over $6.3 million on Kickstarter alone. After the Kickstarter run ended, it used another service to keep collecting from fans that wanted to help fund the game. The total amount pledged rose to almost $7.2 million. Deep Silver was then selected as the game's publisher. However, it is not clear how much, if anything, they contributed as a publisher towards...

Game Breaking Battlefield V Bugs Still Not Fixed

No solid ETA on when they will be either.

If you have played Battlefield V from the beginning, you will probably agree that the game is fun but it's not without its flaws. In fact, it seems as though with every patch released for the game, there are almost as many new bugs added as there are ones that are squished in each patch.

The latest patch released for the game, which came about just last week, is no exception to that rule. First off, the beginning of Chapter 4 for Battlefield V's Tides of War multiplayer campaign was supposed to include the addition of a new map,...

Review: The Sinking City (PC)

That sinking feeling.

Frogware's The Sinking City is perhaps the best love letter to Lovecraft that we have seen in quite some time, but that may not be saying much. This most direct competition to The Sinking City was 2018's Call of Cthulhu, which really failed to capitalize on any single gameplay aspect. The Sinking City, on the other hand, at least manages to excel in one or two key areas, even if it barely stays afloat in others.

The city of Oakmont is the main location for The Sinking City. The first thing you see upon arrival is dreariness. Well, that and a dead...

THQ Acquires Kingdom Come: Deliverance Developer Warhorse Studios

THQ Nordic AB just picked up Warhorse Studios, the Prague based development studio that released Kingdom Come: Deliverance in early 2018.

This news is accompanied by word that the game has sold 2 million copies across all platforms. It also happens to be almost exactly one year since the game was initially released.

The acquisition by THQ Nordic/Koch Media includes the entirety of the Warhorse development studio, including controversial owner Daniel Vávra, plus all intellectual property rights. Given this acquisition and the recent moves by Koch Media, I'm assuming...

  • Blizzard Will Not Release Any Major Games in 2019

Blizzard Will Not Release Any Major Games in 2019

Yesterday, news about Blizzard's upcoming year got a bit lost in the shuffle and understandably so. However, during yesterday's earnings call with investors, it was revealed that Blizzard has no "frontline release" planned for the 2019 fiscal year.

In short: This means they aren't going to release any new titles in the next year. Yes, this includes the oft pined for desktop Diablo 4.

Activision Blizzard president Collister Johnson had this to say during the call.

That seems about as straight to the point as you can get....

  • First Apex Legends Update Released, Includes Performance and Stability Improvements

Respawn just released the first ever update for their insanely popular, free-to-play battle royale title, Apex Legends. This first update includes the usual when it comes to the first handful of patches for a game. I'm talking about stability improvements, bug fixes, and some performance optimizations.

In addition, the team also dropped some new Valentines Day cosmetics to the store. These will be available to pick up until February 19, 2019.

This patch is specifically being called the "Preseason Patch 01" because it, well, arrived before the start of...

  • OtherSide Entertainment Reacquires System Shock 3 Publishing Rights

OtherSide Entertainment Reacquires System Shock 3 Publishing Rights

Back in December, Starbreeze suffered a real one-two punch. They had filed for reconstruction and then days later their offices were raided by Swedish authorities over suspicions of insider trading. This was about a month after the release of the ill-received Overkill's The Walking Dead, a mediocre game that never managed to pick up much of a fanbase at any point.

Given the company's issues, a question was raised about whether or not they would still hold on to the publishing rights for System Shock 3. Starbreeze purchased the publishing rights back in 2017 and have partially...

  • Metro Exodus Preload Available on Steam but Not on Epic Games Store

Metro Exodus Preload Available on Steam but Not on Epic Games Store

Goodness, this launch of Metro Exodus has been a bit wild. The other day we saw from Deep Silver's technical support that there wouldn't be any preload of the game through Steam. The email response from Deep Silver literally said that they expect to see the most traffic going to the Epic Games Store version of the game.

So, we assumed that meant there would instead be a preload period on the Epic Games Store, right? Well, no. We were wrong. To be fair, that response from Deep Silver was also wrong.

There will not be a preload of Metro Exodus of the Epic Games...

  • Activision Blizzard Lays Off Nearly 800 Employees Right After Announcing 'Record Year'

This evening, Activision Blizzard began to inform numerous employees that they will be let go from the company. The layoffs started shortly after the conclusion of an earnings call made this afternoon. The company says that they will be eliminating 8% of its total staff. As of 2018, Activision Blizzard employed around 9,600 people. If this figure holds up, that means at least 770 people are now out of work.

Those impacted by the layoffs are spread out across multiple Activision Blizzard departments. This includes Activision's publishing division, Blizzard, High Moon, and King....

Ubisoft revealed today that Assassin's Creed III Remastered will be released on March 29 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. This release will feature 4K and HDR capabilities on the PlayStation 4 Pro, Xbox One X, and PC versions of the game. All versions include higher resolution textures, a new graphics engine, and other graphical improvements. They event improved some gameplay mechanics in this release.

Does it fix the obnoxiously long intro/tutorial section that essentially makes up the first third of the game?

This release does include the full base game,...

Shadow of the Tomb Raider DLC 'The Price of Survival' is Out Now

The latest DLC release for Shadow of the Tomb Raider was released today. It's called "The Price of Survival." I'm sure the price of survival is quite high, but the price you'll be paying for this Survival is only $4.99 (or $29.99 for the Season Pass).

The Price of Survival is out for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC via Steam. This DLC follows "The Nightmare" DLC that was released near the end of January. ...
