PlayStation 5 Starting at $400, Launches Starting November 12

$400 for digital-only, $500 for the full system.

The next-gen is now fully in gear. With Microsoft announcing the price and release date of their Xbox Series X, the only piece of the puzzle that remained was what Sony would do with the PlayStation 5. Today, the company announced that the Digital Edition will retail for $399.99 (USD) while the "regular" version with a disc drive will retail for $499.99.

Both consoles are expected to launch in select countries...

EA Kills Off Origin

Origin to be replaced by more generic naming convention.

First, EA ditched their EA Access and Origin Access branding in favor of EA Play. This happened almost exactly one month ago in August 2020. Now, EA is ready to ditch their Origin desktop client with something a little more generic.

EA is changing the name of their Origin client to "EA Desktop." EA is calling their new app a "next-generation PC gaming platform."

This renaming will...

Review: Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 + 2

Feeling younger in my mind.

When you think of the heyday of Tony Hawk titles, you probably think back to the games prior to weird skateboard controllers and the abysmal Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5. You think back to a time in your childhood when you would turn on your old CRT television, power on the PlayStation, and digitally pull off some sick tricks while Goldfinger's Superman blasted in the background. The first couple of Tony Hawk games hold a special place in a lot of our hearts...

Tiananmen Square Footage Removed from Call of Duty Trailer

Activision bending the knee? What? No. Never!

The first trailer for Call of Duty Black Ops: Cold War was blocked in China and then later edited from every other region because it contained roughly one second of footage from the Tiananmen Square protests from 1989. This is when the Chinese government had a big uh "crackdown" on pro-democracy protesters. That is to say, they murdered the fuck out of their citizens, or made them "disappear," and attacked them with...

Find the Letter H Released Today to Help You Find Some Peace of Mind

    Relax.

If the stress of DOOM Eternal and Animal Crossing: New Horizons is too much for you to handle right now, why not relax a bit with something else. That something else could be an indie game called Find the Letter H.

It's a free game with an option to purchase. It's a quiet game. All you do is walk around a pond and look for the letter "H."

The developer, Will, says that they made Find the Letter H last year when they were "going through...

  • GameStop Considers Itself 'Essential Retail' as It Endangers the Lives of Its Employees

Imagine being this full of yourself.

GameStop, the physical retailer that sells video games and video game accessories, told all of its stores today that they should remain open. A memo sent to all store managers says that all stores should remain open even if the city or state goes on lockdown to protect against the spread of Covid-19. The retailer told its employees that they, much like grocery stores and pharmacies, are "essential retail" and are thus exempt from abiding...

Game Grumps Coming to House Party on March 24

Dan and Arin of the Game Grumps coming in highly anticipated update.

House Party is a game in which you attend a house party. Oh yeah, you do other stuff while you're there. You do things like interact with others that are at the party. There are apparently over 25 different branching stories that you can try to play through. The developers call it a "sexually charged, 3D point-and-click adventure" that is "all about player choice and partying the way you want."...

    Bleeding Edge Launch Trailer

Ninja Theory's latest is almost here.

The studio that brought us the fantastic Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice and the very decisive DmC: Devil May Cry is about to release something quite a bit different. On March 24, Ninja Theory will release their 4v4 team fighter known as Bleeding Edge.

The game is described as being "fast and frenetic." Much like other team brawlers on the market, Bleeding Edge features a rather eccentric cast of fighters to choose from. Each...

Blizzard just officially revealed their latest Overwatch Hero addition today. The new character is named Echo and is "an evolutionary robot programmed with a rapidly adapting artificial intelligence." This character has a name and an origin story and not much else.

Blizzard says that Echo is "coming soon" to the game. This presumably means it will be coming first to public testing and then to the general public, as these...

    PlayStation 5 System Specs Revealed

We finally have the full next-gen picture.

As Sony's Mark Cerny wraps up his promised PlayStation 5 deep dive, the specs and other details for the PlayStation 5 have been released. So far, we know that the PlayStation 5 will be backwards compatible with most PlayStation 4 titles. Cerny seems to have stopped short of saying it will be backwards compatible with other generations, which is unfortunate.

We also learned today that Sony is putting a lot of effort into their...
