Ion Fury Devs Apologize for Numerous Sexist, Homophobic, and Transphobic Remarks

Sweeping changes are promised as a result.

Voidpoint, the studio behind the just released Ion Fury, has apologized for a series of "incidents" wherein multiple developers were found to use transphobic, ableist, homophobic, and sexist language in the game's official Discord channel. This is on top of some homophobic language found within the game itself.

Over the weekend, a thread had popped up on gaming forum ResetEra that showed multiple instances where the developers had made transphobic remarks via Discord. Members of the dev team were also shown to make...

Respawn Apologizes to Ass-hat Gamers for 'Ass-hat' Remarks

Statement issued from Respawn's Vince Zampella.

Respawn's CEO Vince Zampella issued a bit of an apology today after members of the Apex Legends development team called a bunch of toxic ass-hat gamers, well... they called them ass-hats. Donning their biggest surprised Pikachu face possible, these Gamers™ got extra angry when they realized they couldn't just keep dishing it out and not expect some form of retaliation in return. Some continued to throw tantrums, others called for boycots, while still others did their best "I studied the blade" impersonation.

Even...

Sony Bought Insomniac Games Today

Get ready for more Spider-Man.

Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) has officially purchased Insomniac Games today. You're probably surprised to hear that the studio that developed last year's PlayStation 4 exclusive Spider-Man wasn't already owned by Sony prior to this week.

Insomniac Games was first started in 1994 and remained an independent game developer for this 25 year span of time. They created Spyro the Dragon, the Ratchet & Clank games, along with the Resistance franchise. All of these franchises were PlayStation exclusives, at least initially. Every so...

First of Three New Videos Released for Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey

Panache Digital Games and Private Division have released the first video in a new three-video series for Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey. We actually briefly talked about this game back when it was revealed to have a 2019 release date, which has some more general information about the game itself. As before, the game is looking to arrive this year on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.

The short of it is that the game tasks you with trying to survive, thus ensuring the future of your species through evolution and good decision making. It is an open-world survival game at heart, but instead of just your own survival at stake, it's the fate of all humanity. Hey, no pressure or anything, right? ...

  • QC Games and Breach Shutting Down Just Three Months After Release

QC Games and Breach Shutting Down Just Three Months After Release

QC Games, the development studio that released Breach just this past January into Steam Early Access, is now shutting down. The announcement came earlier today via a developer update on the Breach website.

Breach was a 4v1 action-RPG. Players could make and customize their own characters with a variety of customizable abilities. These characters would face off against a "Veil Demon" that was either controlled by the AI or by other players. The game was going to transition to being free-to-play once it left Early Access, but it looks like that won't come to pass....

  • Real Money 'Battlefield Currency' Finally Announced for Battlefield V; New Patch Arrives April 4

Two things were revealed by DICE and EA today for Battlefield V. First is the changelog for the soon to be released Battlefield V update. This is the second update for Chapter 3: Trial by Fire and, as you expect, includes a lot of changes for the Firestorm battle royale mode. Do note that the link I provided here to the update changelog is to a PDF.

With that out of the way, it's now time to talk about "Battlefield Currency." The community has already started to call them "Boins," so don't be surprised if you see that pop up more than once. This is a new...

On this date, the game will be out on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC via Steam. Asobo Studio, though an Indie dev, has developed or helped to develop games such as FUEL, ReCore, Quantum Break, and Ratatouille.

We've already covered the game quite a bit over the past couple of years. You should totally check out that coverage if you want a ton of details, screenshots, and other media. If...

Today, Borderlands: Game of the Year Edition was released on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. For the console players, you'll have to buy this one fresh. Those that own the game on PC will get a free upgrade to the Enhanced release via Steam. There does seem to be a small issue...

  • Borderlands 3 Dated for September 13, 2019 - Confirmed Six Month Exclusive to Epic Games Store

Borderlands 3 will officially be released on September 13, 2019 on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and the Epic Games Store for PC. In case you missed the obvious "hints" dropped earlier this week, or were in denial as I repeatedly saw from people on other sites, the PC release is indeed a six month timed exclusive on the Epic Game Store before it will hit other PC storefronts like Steam.

However, the point of this isn't to talk about how completely bullshit exclusives are, especially when it comes to the PC market, but we are instead here to talk about Borderlands...

Valve just rolled out a fresh update for Counter-Strike: Global Offensive this evening that makes some adjustments to three maps. These maps are none other than Vertigo, Nuke, and Abbey. The biggest changes tonight hit Vertigo and Abbey, with Nuke receiving only little bitty fix.

  • Refunds Now Allowed on PlayStation Store Pre-orders but There is a Catch

Refunds Now Allowed on PlayStation Store Pre-orders but There is a Catch

For the longest time, if you wanted a refund from Sony for a purchase made through the PlayStation Store, you were either completely out of luck or were maybe given a one time exception. There were a few other times where Sony cracked open that refund door another inch, such as when games were severely broken to the point of crashing systems, but these were made once in a blue moon. Even then it wasn't a guarantee that you would be issued a refund if you requested one.

Yesterday, Sony pushed out a slightly less draconian refund policy for purchases made from the PlayStation...

Sword Art Online Alicization Lycoris Announced for PS4, XB1, and Steam

Bandai Namco announced this week that Sword Art Online Alicization Lycoris is coming to the Americas for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC via Steam. You play as Kirito as they battle through the "Underworld," which is a "mysterious virtual world set in the anime series' Alicization arc."

There's a whole lot here I'm not familiar with. I'm just going to let the rest of the press release announcement for the game speak for itself. Plus, check ou t the new announcement trailer and screenshots. ...

  • Doom is the Theme for QuakeCon 2019

Doom is the Theme for QuakeCon 2019

If you were to say that Quakecon 2019 is Doomed, you would be correct. Not only because that's the on point headline that Bethesda used in today's press release, but also because Quakecon 2019 is focusing on Doom! It's not even being called QuakeCon 2019, but is instead being called QuakeCon: Year of DOOM!

    DOOM! DOOOOOOOOOOOM!

Even with all this Doom, there's not a whole lot of gloom to be seen, unless you aren't able to get the registrations you wanted for the event. To ensure that doesn't happen, you'll want to visit the revamped Quakecon website starting Thursday,...
