Counter-Strike 2 is Out Now

Counter-Strike is dead, long live Counter-Strike!

Without a press release in sight, Valve has launched Counter-Strike 2 to the world. This free-to-play release is available right now and will replace your current installs of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. True to Valve tradition, today's release is actually a little bit later than initially expected. During its initial announcement in March, Valve said Counter-Strike 2 would be out in summer. It is now fall, but they only missed...

Volition is Shutting Down Effective Immediately

After 30 years, the studio is being shut down.

Volition formed in 1993, with their first game coming in 1995. That game was none other than the widely acclaimed Descent, a first-person spaceship shooter. Volition went on to make several more games in the Descent franchise. Volition also created the PlayStation 2 RPG Summoner. They created Red Faction and several sequels. They also created the Saints Row franchise, up to and including the latest franchise reboot title, aptly named Saints...

Terminal Velocity Gets a New Lease on Life

Time to party like it's 1995.

In 1995, a little 360-degree combat flight shooter came out called Terminal Velocity. That game was developed by Terminal Reality and published by 3D Realms, and wow was it ever a great time playing that on school computers back in the day.

Now, a whole new generation of students can play Terminal Velocity on school computers. This is all thanks to Ziggurat Interactive that are readying the release of Terminal Velocity: Boosted Edition. This...

  • The Day Before Delayed Again for Another Dubious Reason

The Day Before Delayed Again for Another Dubious Reason

Just another excuse from developer Fntastic.

The Day Before is (allegedly) an upcoming Unreal Engine 5 powered open-world zombie survival MMO. It's (allegedly) in development by Fntastic, a studio with a less than stellar reputation. Still, The Day Before ended up becoming one of Steam's most wanted titles for a while after its initial reveal and the small handful of subsequent media releases.

The Day Before has already been delayed at least once, with the reason being...

    Critical Consensus: Forspoken

I'm somewhere that's not what I would call Earth, I'm seeing freakin' dragons, and oh yeah I'm in a kind of bad game.

The reviews for Forspoken started to come out today and wow, they are not good. They aren't exactly terrible, but for a game that has been sitting in the spotlight for so long, the scores this game is receiving cannot be what Square Enix was hoping for. Forspoken sits at a 69% average on OpenCritic, and what critics have been saying are not painting a very pretty picture...

  • Season 02 of Modern Warfare 2 to Include Hardcore Mode and Several Warzone Changes

New details on the second season came out over the weekend.

Infinity Ward says that a Hardcore game mode is coming to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 when Season 02 drops on February 15. They didn't say much about the Hardcore mode outside of there being no in-game HUD. Hardcore also typically enables friendly fire and lowers the time to kill (TTK), but those features have yet to be confirmed for this particular Hardcore mode.

When it comes to the DMZ, we know that there...

Ahead of the January 27th launch of the Dead Space remake comes word that the game will feature more than one ending. This is wholly unlike the original game that gave you just one ending and that was that.

The reveal that there would be more than one ending for this remake came from the list of the game's achievements, recently posted on True Trophies. One Trophy (or Achievement if on Xbox) in particular is...

  • Poll: Are You a Fan of Paying More to Play Early?
    by Shawn Zipay
Get that Premium Edition and play three days early!

Looks like the latest growing trend with game releases is to offer a more expensive Premium or Gold or whatever edition that grants you access to a game a few days ahead of its official release.

Starfield did it with their $99.99 (USD) Premium Edition. Today, Payday 3 is doing an "Early Access" release with their Silver and Gold editions. Diablo 4 did the same thing earlier in the year, as did Madden NFL 24,...

I think it's kind of dumb that people get to play earlier. Spending more shouldn't offer a "head start" on other paying customers.
