  • Turns Out Announcing Tomb Raider Remasters Without Obtaining Permission is a Bad Idea

About two weeks ago, a tweet went out by realtech VR saying that they were working on remastered versions of the first three Tomb Raider games. They said that these remasters would be coming to Steam and would be free updates to those who own the originals. It was even going to have a bunch of visual improvements such as SSAO, up to 16x AA (though that's arguably quite generic in this day and age), and 60fps gameplay (original game was 30fps). Visual overhauls and OpenVR support on the PC? ...

  • Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Remastered is Reportedly Real and Won't Include Multiplayer

Two separate sources have independently confirmed that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Remastered is indeed real. Both of these sources have also said that Modern Warfare 2 Remastered is only the single player component from the original game.

Sources have supplied this information to Charlie Intel and (presumably) other sources have separately supplied this information to Eurogamer. That's two sites and probably two sources that are making this claim. It may also explain why...

As of April 2017, Vivendi owned 25% of Ubisoft and were allegedly eyeing a takeover of the company late in 2017. GDC 2018: Microsoft Announces DirectX Raytracing

Though the adoption of dedicated DirectX 12 games is near non-existent, that hasn't stopped companies like Microsoft from adding in new features and APIs. The latest announcement came today in the form of a new API dedicated to facilitating the creation of real-time ray tracing.

This is a fairly simplified explanation from Wikipedia.
Optical ray tracing describes a method for producing visual images constructed in 3D computer graphics environments, with more photorealism

  • Poll: Are You a Fan of Paying More to Play Early?
    by Shawn Zipay
Get that Premium Edition and play three days early!

Looks like the latest growing trend with game releases is to offer a more expensive Premium or Gold or whatever edition that grants you access to a game a few days ahead of its official release.

Starfield did it with their $99.99 (USD) Premium Edition. Today, Payday 3 is doing an "Early Access" release with their Silver and Gold editions. Diablo 4 did the same thing earlier in the year, as did Madden NFL 24,...

I think it's kind of dumb that people get to play earlier. Spending more shouldn't offer a "head start" on other paying customers.
