Sony Blocks Fortnite Cross-Play Between PS4 and Switch Players
Sony continues to baffle and anger fans with their archaic multiplayer stances. The latest is that players on the newly released Nintendo Switch version of Fortnite will not be allowed to play with those on the PlayStation 4 version. Switch owners can, however, play with Xbox One, PC, Mac, and mobile players. Even worse is the fact that players are now finding out that they cannot link their Epic accounts to the Switch version of the game if it's already been tied to their PSN account...

Valve Overhauls the Steam Chat System
For the first time in years, Valve has provided a drastic overhaul to the Friends and Chat system within Steam. It has an all-new look with some new functionality such as embedding things like images, Giphy links, Twitter, Twitch, and even YouTube. You can even use something like /giphy to insert a random Giphy image, because that seems safe?
It's got improvements to group chats, improvements to voice chat, it has a two week long chat history you can keep, it has a new "persona" invisible mode, a new way to rename friends, a new way to trade, a new way to add friends, and more!
You can try this new functionality out in two different ways. You can either opt into the current Steam client beta by going to Steam > Settings > Account and opting into the currently available beta OR you can try it out via your web browser.... -

Destiny 2: Forsaken to Introduce Gambit Multiplayer Activity
A new multiplayer "activity" for Destiny 2 coming with the Forsaken expansion is said to deliver an experience with an "upwards trajectory of fun." This is of course if you believe the remarks made by design lead Lars Bakken. He's talking about the new Gambit multiplayer activity which was revealed earlier today.

It's been almost exactly one year since we last heard or saw anything concerning Transference from Ubisoft and SpectreVision. Thankfully, Elijah Wood once again came out on stage this year to finally provide some additional details on what Transference actually is. Hint: It's a psychological thriller.
A quick note here: Transference can be played with or without a VR device. It will also be available for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC this Fall.
