Ubisoft Pulls Licenses for The Crew, Makes the Game Completely Inaccessible to Buyers

From the same company trying to sell you a $130 version of Star Wars Outlaws.

From announcing a $130 edition of Star Wars Outlaws to pulling game licenses from those that bought The Crew, Ubisoft sure is on a roll this week.

The Crew was Ubisoft's open-world racing game that was pulled from sale back in December 2023. As of March 31, 2024, Ubisoft shut down the online servers for The Crew. This effectively made the game unplayable across all platforms, including: PC,...

Tim Sweeney Called Valve 'Assholes' in Email to Gabe Newell, Valve COO Says 'You Mad Bro?'

Tim Sweeney is always mad.

The antitrust lawsuit against Valve from Wolfire Games got a little spicy this week. To quickly get you up to speed: Wolfire claims that Valve uses its position with Steam to control game prices and muscle out competition. Though the initial lawsuit against Valve was dismissed, Wolfire amended their suit in May 2022 and the legal battle was back on.

It may have taken almost two years, but we are now starting to see some of the documents that...

Multiple studios across all SIE regions impacted.

Sony just laid off about 900 people across multiple PlayStation studios around the world. These 900 or so laid off employees account for roughly 8% of the total workforce for Sony Interactive Entertainment.

President and CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment, Jim Ryan, announced the layoffs to the public today. The public statement came after an email was sent to all employees informing them of the layoffs. From Ryan's...

Xbox Confirms PlayStation 5 Releases, Diablo 4 on Game Pass, and Future Hardware Plans

No, Starfield and Indiana Jones are not going multi-platform any time soon.

The heads of Xbox stayed true to their word and were indeed a part of a special edition of the Official Xbox Podcast. During today's pre-recorded podcast and subsequent blog post, head of Xbox Phil Spencer stated that four Xbox exclusives are going to be multi-platform releases. Is it Starfield? Indiana Jones? Gears of War? Halo?! No, no, no, and no. Though Spencer did not specify what those four titles ...

Embracer's rampage continues.

Reminder: Steam to Ditch Windows XP Support on January 1, 2019

In case you forgot, or were simply unaware, Valve will drop Steam support for Windows XP machines beginning January 1, 2019. This more than likely doesn't really impact you unless you are one of the 0.11% that are still using Windows XP as of the November 2018 hardware survey. Of course, Microsoft ended support for XP back in 2014, meaning it has already seen four years without security patches.

Here is what Valve announced earlier this year about their Windows XP support ending....

  • Blizzard Attempting to Clean up Twitch Chat Dumpster Fire by Tying Accounts to Battle.net

If you've ever been on Twitch for even a small amount of time, you probably have a decent idea of just how downright terrible the chat experience can be. It is especially egregious in larger chats and chats that lack proper moderation, filters, or spam reduction modes enabled. Even then, it's still kind of garbage. Blizzard realizes this and they are apparently taking their own steps to try to make the chat experience a little bit less crap.

The studio announced that they will...

These Are the Top 'Controller-Friendly' PC Games of 2018

Valve just released a new set of charts today as a follow-up to their "Best of 2018" lists from earlier this week. Today's lists provide a look at some the best "controller-friendly" games that players enjoyed throughout 2018. In a weird twist, Valve broke down the games based on the controller that was used to play them: Xbox controller, PlayStation 4 controller, Steam controller, and the Switch Pro controller.

Valve broke each of the pages down into three...

Free PlayStation Plus Games for January 2019

I only have the free PlayStation Plus games for January 2019 to share with you today as Microsoft has yet to reveal their Games with Gold lineup yet. Sony is offering up games like Steep and Portal Knights for PlayStation 4 owners in the new year. January has typically been a bit of a slower month for the service, which is really unfortunate for those who just got new consoles during Christmas.

Steam Reveals "Best of 2018" Lists

It's the end of 2018 and you know what that means? No, it's not that. Nor is it that. Ew, stop it. Alright, I'll just tell you instead. It's time for Steam's "Best of 2018" lists! You probably actually guessed that given the title, but that's besides the point. Valve has compiled some lists that take a look back at the games released in 2018. These include the top sellers for the year, the best VR titles, and more! Granted, most of these were probably just automatically compiled...

  • MINImax Tinyverse Brings F2P, Real-Time, 3D, Strategy, Brawling, God Gaming to Steam Early Access

In the spirit of just throwing a lot at a wall and seeing what works, Indie studio O'ol Blue Inc. has readied the release of their new free-to-play game, MINImax Tinyverse, for Steam Early Access today. It's got elements of competitive PvP. It's got 3D visuals. It's free-to-play. It's part strategy. It's part brawler. It's also a God-game. I'm pretty sure at this point, the only thing it doesn't do is make you pasta.

Steam Reportedly Closing Down Video Section in Early 2019

I know this may come as a shock to a lot of you, but Steam has an entire video section where you can purchase or rent a wide variety of films like John Wick, and full series like Red vs. Blue. Honestly, I wouldn't be too surprised to learn that most people had no idea that Valve had this section available on Steam because advertising has been next to non-existent for it.

It turns out that there may be something to it because Valve is reportedly going to pull the plug on the entire...

Not only that, but this two-part patch will set the stage for the upcoming Shadowbringers expansion that is slated for a vague release date of Summer 2019.

World War 3 Updated with New Maps and More

World War 3 has been updated with another "HUGE UPDATE," at least that's what the devs are calling it. Honestly, it does sound like it's a fairly substantial update. It includes new maps, a new tank, a new weapon, new camo, new skins, and more.

Another big part of this update focuses on performance improvements. These include a reduction in RAM usage, shorter load times, and the like. Let's take a look at the full list of changes in this big December Update 0.3 for...

It's that joyous time of the year again.
