Ubisoft Pulls Licenses for The Crew, Makes the Game Completely Inaccessible to Buyers

From the same company trying to sell you a $130 version of Star Wars Outlaws.

From announcing a $130 edition of Star Wars Outlaws to pulling game licenses from those that bought The Crew, Ubisoft sure is on a roll this week.

The Crew was Ubisoft's open-world racing game that was pulled from sale back in December 2023. As of March 31, 2024, Ubisoft shut down the online servers for The Crew. This effectively made the game unplayable across all platforms, including: PC,...

Tim Sweeney Called Valve 'Assholes' in Email to Gabe Newell, Valve COO Says 'You Mad Bro?'

Tim Sweeney is always mad.

The antitrust lawsuit against Valve from Wolfire Games got a little spicy this week. To quickly get you up to speed: Wolfire claims that Valve uses its position with Steam to control game prices and muscle out competition. Though the initial lawsuit against Valve was dismissed, Wolfire amended their suit in May 2022 and the legal battle was back on.

It may have taken almost two years, but we are now starting to see some of the documents that...

900 People Laid Off Across Multiple PlayStation Studios

Multiple studios across all SIE regions impacted.

Sony just laid off about 900 people across multiple PlayStation studios around the world. These 900 or so laid off employees account for roughly 8% of the total workforce for Sony Interactive Entertainment.

President and CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment, Jim Ryan, announced the layoffs to the public today. The public statement came after an email was sent to all employees informing them of the layoffs. From Ryan's...

Xbox Confirms PlayStation 5 Releases, Diablo 4 on Game Pass, and Future Hardware Plans

No, Starfield and Indiana Jones are not going multi-platform any time soon.

The heads of Xbox stayed true to their word and were indeed a part of a special edition of the Official Xbox Podcast. During today's pre-recorded podcast and subsequent blog post, head of Xbox Phil Spencer stated that four Xbox exclusives are going to be multi-platform releases. Is it Starfield? Indiana Jones? Gears of War? Halo?! No, no, no, and no. Though Spencer did not specify what those four titles ...

Hitman 2 developer IO Interactive is opening a second studio that will allow the developer to focus on Hitman and new franchises.

Earlier today, IO Interactive announced that they are opening a new studio in Malmö, Sweden. That's not too shabby for a development studio that was let go ...

A Bunch of Sword Art Online News and Something About VRMMORPG

There was just no way I would have been able to fit everything that there is to talk about with this one if I wasn't being a bit cheeky with the headline. Bandai Namco has passed along word to us today that Sword Art Online: Hollow Realization - Deluxe Edition is coming to the Nintendo Switch this Spring.

In addition to that, the very same email says that both Sword Art Online: Fatal Bullet - Dissonance of the Nexus Expansion and Sword Art Online: Fatal Bullet - Complete Ed...

'Obey Me' Brings a Holy War to Consoles and PC Later this Year

Blowfish Studios and Error 404 Game Studios are working on Obey Me, a new "cooperative holypunk brawler" that is targeting a Q3 2019 release for PS4, XB1, Switch, and PC.

Obey Me dives into the notion that angels and demons are waging an ongoing war that humans can't see. And just like with other similar stories, the fate of all mankind hangs in the balance. This story is actually expanded upon by a series of graphic novels from Dynamite Comics. It features work from Marvel...

Unity Changes Terms Once More, Commits to 'Being an Open Platform'

Unity has had a real interesting seven days. Last week, SpatialOS from developer Improbable was apparently barred from being used within Unity development. SpatialOS is a robust tool that many Unity developers use to add multiplayer to their games. For a time, Unity's new Terms, which went live in early December but were only clarified to Improbable last week, actually affected games that were already released. This led to some quick back and forths between Improbable and Unity through their...

EA Cancels Yet Another Star Wars Game (Update)

A headline like "EA Cancels Another Star Wars Game" feels like they're a dime a dozen these days. I think EA may have cancelled as many Star Wars games as they have closed studios at this point. Here we are again and here EA is with another cancelled EA game on their hands. This time, the development studio has decided to cancel its open-world Star Wars game that EA Vancouver had been working on. Prior to EA Vancouver working on this title, it was in development from Visceral Games. Of c...

  • Elder Scrolls Online Announces Elsweyr Expansion and 'Season of the Dragon' Storyline

It looks like the cat is out of the bag when it comes to the next year for content coming to The Elder Scrolls Online. Earlier today, the Elsweyr expansion was announced alongside the "Season of the Dragon" which promises to continue throughout the year.

I was provided with the highlights from Bethesda, so let's first take a look at those.

That's a fairly succinct list, but let's dive in a bit deeper into Elsweyr. Elsweyr is slated to launch...

Valve Reflects Back on Steam in 2018 and Looks Forward to 2019

Valve just released a fairly comprehensive "year in review" for Steam that covers everything from the Steam Store, to active users, to a breakdown of users by region, to changes made to the Steam Community, to upcoming changes they're already working on for 2019, and more.

Most of what is discussed in the blog is essentially a recap of what we already talked about at various times in 2018. You're more than welcome to check out the full entry for yourself, but we're...
