Review: Judgment (PS4)

The same, but different.

Sega, specifically the Yakuza team at Sega, are really damn good at what they do. The primarily Japanese developer has been on a roll with their stellar Yakuza-focused releases this generation that include Yakuza 0, Yakuza Kiwami and Kiwami 2, and Yakuza 6. All of these titles have received high praise both from myself and from other media outlets these past few years.

It should then come as no surprise that the level of quality found in those titles does not take any sort of hit with the team's latest release, Judgment. Make no mistake about...

EA Attempts to Distance Themselves from 'Loot Boxes' by Calling them 'Surprise Mechanics'

If it walks like a duck and talks like a duck, it must be a surprise mechanic.

EA and loot boxes, loot boxes and EA. In some people's minds, there is no better pairing save for "gamers" and "rising up." For the past several years now, the studio has been repeatedly under fire for how they included loot boxes in many of their titles. They have included loot box mechanics in games like Madden with their Madden Ultimate Team card packs, FIFA with the similar Ultimate Team mode, Battlefield 1, and perhaps most notably, Star Wars Battlefront 2.

In fact,...

Chivalry 2 Announced as Epic Games Store Timed Exclusive

Another Tripwire published title revealed as an EGS timed-exclusive.

The Chivalry series is making a comeback at what could be a very interesting time. Despite fierce competition from Mordhau, Torn Banner Studios announced that they are working on Chivalry 2. It will once again be a multiplayer first-person "slasher" set in medieval battlefields. The game, published by Tripwire Interactive, is targeting a 2020 release on the Epic Games Store.

Cash Bandicoot is Back - Remasters of the Classics Plus Skylanders

You know what's great? Crash Bandicoot? You know what's better than great? Not much else, which is just fine because Crash Bandicoot is back!

Sony announced tonight that there will be complete remasters "from the ground up" for Crash Bandicoot, Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back, and Crash Bandicoot: Warped for the PlayStation 4. When they say "from the ground up" it sounds a lot like what was done for Ratchet & Clank but with fewer changes made to the original gameplay and mechanics.

There is no release date for these remasters just yet.

Activision is also bringing Crash back but this time to Skylanders Imaginators, arriving...

All Titanfall 2 Maps and Modes DLC will be Free

Respawn Entertainment's David Wightman confirmed to Gamesradar that all future Titanfall 2 maps and modes DLC will be free.
"We'll definitely be supporting Titanfall 2 post-launch, and I can confirm all maps and modes we deliver post-launch will be free. We'll be talking more about post-launch plans closer to release so stay tuned for more info."

Wightman did go on to explain that they also won't sell any "pay-to-win stuff." However, he did not actually specify what they would be selling. I'm assuming it's going to be a lot of cosmetic stuff for your characters, weapons, and Titans. In case you mi...

Death Stranding Announced by Kojima Productions Starring Nude Norman Reedus

Hideo Kojima surprised the Sony audience tonight by showing off the first ever look at his new game. It stars, you guessed it, Norman Reedus, as a guy that had a baby but lost it? And there are a lot of dead fish? Also, black goo? And what's with the nudity? Where did the baby go? And WTF are those figures floating in the sky?!

Yep, it's a Kojima game. Kojima said that the demo was done in real time but the team hasn't decided on an engine yet (eh? how does that work then?). He also noted that Del Toro was not involved in this project.

Capcom made a surprise reveal tonight during Sony's E3 2016 conference. They announced Resident Evil as you've never really seen it before. If you get it on the PlayStation 4, there will be PlayStation VR support included.
In the classic Resident Evil games of yesteryear, players braced for fear in the first-person via the creepy door-opening scenes, and Resident Evil 7 ramps up that tension with an immersive first-person view and a photorealistic graphical style. Capcom is able to achieve

  • God of War E3 2016 Gameplay

God of War E3 2016 Gameplay

You wanted more God of War, right? Good, because the series is getting a reboot in some major ways. The game seems to abandon many of its old gameplay staples, instead opting for a behind the back approach to combat. Even more, the lore moves on to Norse mythology. Also, Kratos is older, has an awesome beard, and oh yeah, he has a son.

Sony Santa Monica said that you will be playing as Kratos for the entire game and that despite what it seemed like in the trailer, the game is not open world. It will release "soon" but don't expect it in 2016.
