Report: E3 2023 is Canceled

This fate was inevitable.

According to a report by IGN, E3 2023 is canceled. This comes after weeks of publishers and gaming companies stating that they were not going to attend E3 this year, including Ubisoft, Microsoft, Sony, Nintendo, Sega, Tencent, and more.

IGN's report from March 30 says that two separate sources confirmed with them that the Entertainment Software Association (ESA; the group behind E3) sent out emails to ESA members earlier today announcing the cancellation....

Valve Announces Counter-Strike 2

Valve's massively popular FPS gets an engine upgrade and a test starting today.

Valve officially announced Counter-Strike 2 today after weeks of teases, speculation, and rumors. The developer calls this "the largest technical leap forward in Counter-Strike's history" and I'm inclined to believe it.

Counter-Strike 2 will launch to everyone starting in Summer of 2023. Counter-Strike 2 will be a free upgrade to Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. Some Counter-Strike:...

Sony's Jim Ryan Reportedly Said His Goal is to 'Block Your Merger' in Closed Door Meeting with Activision

The CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment reportedly had some choice words during a meeting with Activision.

It has been a ridiculous day for Sony when it comes to new details that have come out about the company's opposition to the Microsoft and Activision Blizzard merger.

First, a new report from The Verge's Tom Warren shared some key pieces of information from documents (PDF download) that were recently submitted to the UK's Competition and Markets Authority (CMA)....

Review: The Outer Worlds: Spacer's Choice Edition

An easy purchase for new players but maybe a hard sell for existing owners.

It was not until I reinstalled the original PC release of The Outer Worlds that I was able to really appreciate the improvements made with the release of The Outer Worlds: Spacer's Choice Edition. Initially, I believed that this looked exactly like the same game that I had played on PC back in late 2019 when it first came out.

"I'm just not seeing what makes this Spacer's Choice Edition worth...

Valve shared their 2023 schedule of events with developers.

The entire schedule of big seasonal sales and themed Steam Fest events was shared yesterday by Valve. Now you'll know months in advance just how badly your bank accounts are going to hurt.

The list includes four major seasonal sales that include the spring, summer, autumn, and winter sales. In between most of these are small "Fest" events, which also typically have themed sales of their own. There will...

A Very Cute Hamster is the Next Overwatch Hero

Blizzard just revealed their next hero for Overwatch and it's a hamster. It's a 14-year old hamster named Hammond that fights in a giant mech suit. The mech suit can turn into a ball to roll around the battlefield. It can also turn into a literal wrecking ball. It's probably super appropriate then that the character's in-game name is Wrecking Ball.

Have we crossed into being Battleborn yet? I feel like we have. Hey, whatever. So long as it's fun, right? Let's get some...

Apparently, those who signed up for the Battlefield Insider newsletter however long ago had a chance to be invited. There are also some Twitter accounts that are currently giving away some keys for th...

PUBG Corp Drops Lawsuit Against Epic Games and Fortnite

As fast as the PUBG lawsuit came so it went. PUBG Corp. has apparently dropped their lawsuit against Epic Games and the Fortnite Battle Royale game. Bloomberg notes that the lawsuit, which began in January and I could have sworn I put up a news post about, has been withdrawn from the South Korean court system in which it was originally placed. Neither PUBG nor their legal representation have issued a statement as to why the lawsuit was withdrawn but I would assume it was because they realiz...

Agony Devs Break Another Promise, Cancel Agony Unrated

This one is a big ol' "yikes." The saga of Agony has been a real rough one. After successfully being crowdfunded, the game was delayed for months before eventually being released. However, it had to make some cuts to the content in order to appease its publisher and not be hit with an AO rating.

The developer, Madmind Studio, said that they would release an uncensored patch with all of the cut content afterwards. Only, they didn't allegedly due to legal reasons. So the game...

  • Telltale Reportedly Ditching Their Old In-House Game Engine in Favor of Unity

At long last, Telltale Games is going to ditch their own in-house engine that has been used for a bit over 30 games at this point. They will begin to use the Unity engine for all games after The Walking Dead: The Final Season.

This means that the Telltale adventure game based on Stranger Things should be the first game built using Unity. While many may argue that Unity on consoles isn't all that great, they should agree that it's better than continuing to use Telltale's old...

  • Poll: What Platform Do you Game on the Most?
    by Shawn Zipay
Do you prefer consoles? PC? Maybe mobile is your preferred platform?

This month's poll is a bit generic if only because I really don't know what to ask right now and this is the easiest thing that came to mind. The question is simple: Which sort of platform do you prefer to play games on?

Do you like playing on consoles? Do you prefer to play games on PC? What about mobile games? Maybe you prefer to spend most of your time on your phone playing this, that, or the other....
