New 'Experimental' Splinter Cell Game Confirmed by Ubisoft CEO

Open World? GAAS? Mobile? VR?

The emotional rollercoaster that fans of the Splinter Cell series has been on for the past few years has been never ending, has had no chill, and frankly, it's gotten to be a wee bit tiresome. In May of this year, a new Splinter Cell was apparently "confirmed" and then it was later revealed to just be a joke.

Last month, we again heard a rumor that a new Splinter Cell was actually in the works. However, that story from July says that Facebook is financing the game and that it will be a VR only title and exclusive to the Oculus...

Mojang Cancels 'Super Duper Graphics Pack' for Minecraft

Performance issues and engine difficulties were too much to overcome.

Sadly, Mojang announced today that they are cancelling the promised Super Duper Graphics Pack that was originally revealed at E3 2017. This visual overhaul was teased for the game during the annual industry trade show and fans were eager to check it out for themselves.

This was going to be an optional piece of DLC that brought a suite of visual improvements to the Xbox One and PC versions of the game without needing to mod it. Sure, a lot of the visual improvements have been done time and time again...

Next stop: Reboot City.

This year, Call of Duty fans are getting a reboot of the first Call of Duty: Modern Warfare title. Next year, fans may get a reboot of the Black Ops series. This is if the latest rumors are to be believed.

The 2020 Call of Duty will either be Call of Duty: Black Ops 5 or simply Call of Duty: Black Ops. The game will be set in the Cold War era and will also include the Korean and Vietnam Wars.

This all comes courtesy of YouTuber TheLongSensation via his Twitter account. While it may be easy to just write this off as some random person...

No Man's Sky Beyond Launch Trailer

Update arrives August 14.

A launch trailer for the massive Beyond update for No Man's Sky was released today by Hello Games. This update is said to be the "culmination of 12 months of work" on what was originally going to be three separate, large updates. Those three updates have been rolled into this massive update.

We already touched upon some of the new features and content coming to the game in our last post. The biggest addition, at least for PC and PlayStation VR owners, is the addition of full VR support for No Man's Sky. There are also some additional...

Solos Finally Coming to Apex Legends

But only for a limited time.

Apex Legends will finally allow introverts to play without worry starting on August 13. A Solos Mode will be introduced into the F2P battle royale game. So far, the game has only really allowed for three-man squads.

The addition of Solos Mode is the good news. The bad news is that this mode will only be added to the game for a limited time. This Solos Mode will run from August 13 through August 27 in Apex Legends. Best get your fill of it while you can, because who knows when or if it will come back afterwards. ...

Frostpunk Coming to PS4 and XB1 in October

The grim city builder to hit consoles this Fall.

11 bit studios just announced that their city building title, Frostpunk, is headed to the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on October 11. This isn't your typical city building title though. This is also a society simulator. Things are grim. The mood is grim in the game, not the game itself. The game itself is actually quite good and has had some great success on the PC.

At release Frostpunk: Console Edition will run you just $29.99 (USD) on your platform of choice. The game will be out digitally on the 11th with a physical release...

DayZ Getting Global Edit Because of Australia

Bohemia wants to have just one version of the game.

This past week, the zombie survival game DayZ was banned in Australia both at retail stores and then later from digital stores. The game was refused classification because it would "depict, express or otherwise deal with matters of sex, drug misuse or addiction, crime, cruelty, violence or revolting or abhorrent phenomena in such a way that they offend against the standards of morality, decency, and propriety."

The game has characters using morphine to help treat injuries. They player can also restore some...

Steam Workshop Items Need Approval from Valve

But only for first-party titles from Valve.

You may have already seen that news going around that items on the Steam Workshop must now be approved by Valve before they will appear for the public. This seems to include anything that you may typically find on the Steam Workshop, including custom maps, models, skins, sounds, and the like. This first showed up via a Reddit post on the Global Offensive subreddit.

However, this approval process is not for every Workshop enabled game available on Steam. At least, not yet.

Right now, this approval process is only...

    Tim Willits Joins Saber Interactive

Former id Software director joins World War Z studio.

Just last month, Tim Willits announced that he was parting ways with id Software after the end of QuakeCon. Well, QuakeCon has come and gone, and sure enough Tim Willits departed the studio just as he said he would. It wasn't yet clear where he would end up. All we knew at the time is that he was going to stay active in the industry.

Today, the mystery was lifted as it was announced that Willits is joining Saber Interactive as their chief creative officer. Willits provided some insight into his move in an interview...

This is for a limited time.

Square Enix is allowing players to return to Final Fantasy XIV: Shadowbringers for up to six days for free. This is obviously being done to entice some players to hop back in to the already widely popular MMORPG a mere month after the big Shadowbringers expansion was released.

The free period is live right now and runs until August 16, 2019 at 7:59AM (PT). That's a lot of days, depending on when you read this news of course.

This free login period is only for those that have been inactive for at least 30 days prior to the start...

Call of Duty Devs Won't Admit 'Modern Warfare' is Political

Devs continue to be too cowardly to admit all games are political.

In a couple of interviews conducted between Game Informer and developers of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare from Infinity Ward, we once again see that devs are just too afraid to admit that yes, their games are indeed political.

Given that nearly every single game is political in some way, this seems like a rather perplexing stance to take. It's even more so when we're talking about a game that has "war" in the title, takes place in Syria, places you in the shoes of armed military forces, and allows...

12 WNBA Teams Announced for NBA 2K20

Men aren't the only ones who shoot hoops.

For the first time, WNBA teams and players will be included in the Play Now and Season modes for NBA 2K20. There will be 12 teams and over 140 players, including fan-favorites that you will get to play as.
