Happy birthday, Half-Life!

First up, Valve has made the original Half-Life free to keep to anybody that adds it to their Steam library this weekend. If you somehow do not own the original Half-Life, take this opportunity to add it to your account now and...

Alan Wake 2 Review: A Must-Play Psychological Horror Experience

Easily, the best horror game in years.

In 2010 Remedy Entertainment released Alan Wake, a game where a writer is pulled into a horrifying world seemingly of his own creation. Alan Wake was a game that I bounced off at least two times. Despite the game being well received by critics and fans, I felt like its gameplay was just a repetitive slog that even its unique story could not overcome. When a sequel was announced by Remedy, I found myself extremely indifferent to the news. Still...

As it turns out, this corporate version of Mr. Bones' Wild Ride does actually end.

This also means that Activision Blizzard IPs such as Call of Duty, World of Warcraft, Overwatch, Candy Crush Saga, and hundreds more are now owned by Microsoft.

This entire saga of a tale began back on January 18, 2022...

Review: RIG 900 MAX HX Wireless Headset

My new daily driver.

We are once again delving into the world of gaming headsets, this time with a spotlight shining brightly on Nacon's RIG 900 MAX HX. Priced at $249.99 (USD), the 900 MAX HX aims to be a more premium and feature-filled offering than the RIG 600 PRO HS we recently reviewed. Featuring the same dual-wireless connectivity as the 600 PROs, the 900 MAX HX sets itself apart thanks to Dolby Personalized audio support with Dolby Atmos 3D, plus a charging base station, a more...

Review: Starfield

A safe, if not soulless, journey through the cosmos.

Bethesda Game Studios releases are safe. They are familiar. You know almost exactly what to expect when a major new release from them rolls around. They instill a feeling of "I know this game won't be groundbreaking, but I know I'll have fun." Yes, there are some obvious differences, but the heart of each Bethesda game is almost universally the same. The recent release of Starfield is no different. To put it bluntly: Starfield is Fall...

  • Kingdom Hearts 3 is Now Available

Kingdom Hearts 3 is Now Available

The words "Kingdom Hearts 3 is now available" are ones that many fans have been waiting about 13 years to read. That day has finally come thanks to Square Enix and Disney. This marks the release of the latest and, perhaps, last release in the Kingdom Hearts franchise.

I'm not quite sure how well newcomers to the franchise will actually handle this game. The long-running story throughout the games is ... uh... confusing to put it mildly. Maybe "convoluted"...

  • Destiny 2 Update 2.1.4 Includes Tons of Class Adjustments and a Special Returning Weapon

The 2.1.4 update for Destiny 2 came out today. The update includes a number of changes to the Sandbox gameplay, with a huge focus on tuning the super abilities for nearly every class and sub-class in the game. Crucible also saw some love today with some tuning adjustments made to heavy ammo in the Competitive game types.

This update also makes some changes to the Black Armory forges, the frequency of the Whispers event on Io, and more. Perhaps the bigger news is the fact that a new questline from the Drifter will allow players to pick up a fan-favorite weapon from the first Destiny. ...

  • Battlefield V's Latest Update Improves Panzerstorm Map, Reduces Footstep Sounds, and More

The second part of the "Lightning Strikes" update for Battlefield V has finally arrived. With it comes a bunch of much needed improvements to the Panzerstorm map alongside some new gear, gameplay tweaks, and more.

The first half of this Lightning Strikes update went live earlier this month. In that update, DICE upped the volume of footsteps to a very, very audible degree. Some may say that they increased it a bit too much. I am one such person. In fact, it seems as though...

  • Anthem VIP Demo Weekend Summary

    Anthem VIP Demo Weekend Summary

The VIP demo weekend for Anthem has come and gone already. It was a bit of a bumpy road that included connection woes, infinite loading screens, and broken entitlements. These are just a few of the issues players encountered this past weekend.

It wasn't a complete bust of a weekend, but for a lot of fans and potentials it was certainly disappointing. BioWare's Head of Live Service Chad Robertson explains that while these issues were terrible, they should be fixed for next weekend's...

Just moments ago, the Destiny Twitter account sent out a new teaser video for tomorrow's big Destiny 2 update. This update doesn't yet have a full changelog available with all of the changes, but some of the highlights include a buff for the Hunter's Golden Gun, buffs to damage on scout...

Once Again Enter the World of Survival Horror - Resident Evil 2 is Out Now

It's time to party like it's 1998 because today marks the release date for Resident Evil 2 remake on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. Capcom has released a complete reimagining of the survival horror classic. Gone are the static cameras and PlayStation 1 era visuals. In their place is an over-the-shoulder perspective, plenty of gorey 2019-era visuals, and more puzzles than you can shake a diamond shaped key at.

  • Poll: Best Year Ever for Game Releases?
    by Shawn Zipay
2023 has been a banger year for new game releases.

2023 has already been an absolutely incredible year when it comes to new game releases. In 2023 alone, Metacritic lists 25 game releases that have amassed an average score of 90 or higher. The previous best year, again according to Metacritic, was back in 2011.

Let's just take a little glimpse at some of the games that came out this year that scored a 90 or higher. We had Baldur's Gate 3 in August, The Legend of Zelda:...
