Close to the Sun Brings Some Electrifying Horror to PC Today
Publisher Wired Productions and Italian development studio, Storm in a Teacup, have released Close to the Sun on the Epic Games Store. It will be coming later this year for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
Close to the Sun is a first-person horror adventure with plenty of art deco design, a massive ship, and Nikola Tesla. As mentioned, it's available right now only on the Epic Games Store for $29.99 (USD). And no, it's not like BioShock. They want to make that very, very clear. It's just that they both have a whole lot of that art deco thing going on.
Having played this one for review, I will say that the review will be coming very shortly for Close to the Sun. The review codes were sent out only earlier this week and I really don't like to rush through games I play, especially for review. ... -

Epic Buys Rocket League Studio
Psyonix, the studio behind one of 2015's biggest games, Rocket League, was just purchased by Epic Games. The acquisition is pretty much set in wet cement at this point, with the final crossing of the t's coming later this Spring.
Yes, this also means that Rocket League is leaving Steam and is now an Epic Games Store exclusive. Those are the long term plans. In the short term, nothing much will change at all. Psyonix gave a rundown of what they say will happen with the game in... -

New Earthworm Jim Game Announced Exclusively for Intellivision Amico
Where do I even begin with this one?
There once existed a game console called the Intellivision. It was released first in 1979 and ran through until about 1990. Its controller consisted of some side buttons, a disc-based d-pad, and a 12 digit keypad that accepted plastic overlays for every game so that you knew what the buttons did.
For whatever reason, Intellivision is coming back as Intellivision Amico. It's slated to be released in late 2020. It still features... -

Sonic the Hedgehog Movie Trailer Has Some Teeth
Sonic the Hedgehog is a movie about a blue hedgehog with oddly long legs that has human teeth.
There is a live-action comedy coming out from Paramount that features Sonic the Hedgehog. Coincidentally, his name is also the name of the movie. This trailer shows us a few things:
First, it shows us that Sonic the Hedgehog has very human teeth. It's weird and kind of creepy.
Secondly, it shows us a Jim Carrey role that allows him to be goofy again.... -

Co-op Gameplay Reveal for Conan Unconquered
A new co-op gameplay video is out for Conan Unconquered.
Funcom just released a new video today for Conan Unconquered, their upcoming RTS title set in the Conan the Barbarian universe. It's being developed by Petroglyph, a studio made up of some RTS veterans that worked on the Command & Conquer franchise. I mean, that sounds like a good thing already for fans of the genre.
The game can be played alone or in co-op from start to finish. This video shows us a bit... -

Oculus Announces 'Rift S' and 'Quest' VR Headsets Releasing May 21 at $400 Each
Oculus held their F8 event today during which they revealed two new and very different VR headsets. In comparison to the also just announced $1,000 Valve Index, these two Oculus headsets start at $400 (or $399 if you want to be specific), and that's the price for the full package on both of these.
A major advantage with these two headsets, when compared to the Index, is the fact that they utilize inside-out tracking. That means they make use of headset mounted cameras and sensors... -

Anthem's Dwindling Playerbase is Causing Issues with Matchmaking
Less than a week after BioWare announced an indefinite delay of most of their Anthem roadmap comes word that its dwindling player base is having some issues with proper matchmaking. Given that BioWare hasn't set a new release date for the numerous gameplay additions and improvements, the player base seems to be dying off fast enough that it's causing issues for those that are still playing.
According to a new report from Forbes, players are finding that they are unable to consistently... -

Bank Heist Gameplay from Saints Row: The Third on Nintendo Switch
A new gameplay video is out today for the Nintendo Switch version of Saints Row: The Third. The game, announced earlier this month, offers Switch owners the chance to play the game on the go. Today, the first video in a new "Memorable Moments" video series, was released.
Today's video release focuses on the game's opening bank heist sequence. I'm sure we'll have more about this in the coming weeks. Saints Row: The Third - The Full Package is slated to be released on the Nintendo Switch on May 10. ...

March isn't even over yet and we've already seen a couple of stinkers come out from major gaming studios. While we tend to focus on the surprise hits or quality titles in these polls, this time it's a little bit different.
