Ubisoft Pulls Licenses for The Crew, Makes the Game Completely Inaccessible to Buyers

From the same company trying to sell you a $130 version of Star Wars Outlaws.

From announcing a $130 edition of Star Wars Outlaws to pulling game licenses from those that bought The Crew, Ubisoft sure is on a roll this week.

The Crew was Ubisoft's open-world racing game that was pulled from sale back in December 2023. As of March 31, 2024, Ubisoft shut down the online servers for The Crew. This effectively made the game unplayable across all platforms, including: PC,...

Tim Sweeney Called Valve 'Assholes' in Email to Gabe Newell, Valve COO Says 'You Mad Bro?'

Tim Sweeney is always mad.

The antitrust lawsuit against Valve from Wolfire Games got a little spicy this week. To quickly get you up to speed: Wolfire claims that Valve uses its position with Steam to control game prices and muscle out competition. Though the initial lawsuit against Valve was dismissed, Wolfire amended their suit in May 2022 and the legal battle was back on.

It may have taken almost two years, but we are now starting to see some of the documents that...

900 People Laid Off Across Multiple PlayStation Studios

Multiple studios across all SIE regions impacted.

Sony just laid off about 900 people across multiple PlayStation studios around the world. These 900 or so laid off employees account for roughly 8% of the total workforce for Sony Interactive Entertainment.

President and CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment, Jim Ryan, announced the layoffs to the public today. The public statement came after an email was sent to all employees informing them of the layoffs. From Ryan's...

Xbox Confirms PlayStation 5 Releases, Diablo 4 on Game Pass, and Future Hardware Plans

No, Starfield and Indiana Jones are not going multi-platform any time soon.

The heads of Xbox stayed true to their word and were indeed a part of a special edition of the Official Xbox Podcast. During today's pre-recorded podcast and subsequent blog post, head of Xbox Phil Spencer stated that four Xbox exclusives are going to be multi-platform releases. Is it Starfield? Indiana Jones? Gears of War? Halo?! No, no, no, and no. Though Spencer did not specify what those four titles ...

Embracer Lays Off 97 Employees from Eidos; Cancels New Deus Ex

Embracer's rampage continues.

Eidos-Montreal, a development studio currently under the Embracer umbrella, made the sad announcement that employees at the studio were being laid off. Eidos took to social media to confirm that 97 people have been let go "from development teams, administration, and support services".

The studio says that "global economic context, the challenges of our industry, and the comprehensive restructuring announced by Embracer have...

Remothered: Tormented Fathers Coming to Nintendo Switch

    Watch out Resident Evil.

Darril Arts and Stormind Games announced today that a Nintendo Switch release of Remothered: Tormented Fathers will conjure up some scares on July 26. The port of this survival horror title was done by DICO Co., Ltd. I legitimately have no idea if DICO Co. has handled any other ports, but they were mentioned by name in the press release. I assume it might be a familiar name for some of you out there. Maybe you know whether or not this is going to be a good...

Detroit: Become Human Subs in for PES 2019 for July's PS Plus Offering

    Sorry soccer fans.

Sony just made an interesting change to their PlayStation Plus "free" game lineup for July 2019. About a week ago we reported on what the initial games were going to be. Initially, Sony was giving PS Plus subscribers Pro Evolution Soccer 2019 and Horizon Chase Zero.

Well, it seems as though Pro Evolution Soccer 2019 is out and Detroit: Become Human is in. Horizon Chase Zero is still being offered as the second title. A reason for the swap was...

Game Breaking Battlefield V Bugs Still Not Fixed

No solid ETA on when they will be either.

If you have played Battlefield V from the beginning, you will probably agree that the game is fun but it's not without its flaws. In fact, it seems as though with every patch released for the game, there are almost as many new bugs added as there are ones that are squished in each patch.

The latest patch released for the game, which came about just last week, is no exception to that rule. First off, the beginning of Chapter 4 for...

  • Pigeon Simulator Announced

    Pigeon Simulator Announced

    Viral hit becoming a game.

There was apparently a short gif released in June that showed off someone playing as a pigeon. I haven't seen it but apparently those that did kind of loved the idea. I suppose that's why game developer Kevin "KevKev" Suckert announced today that he is working on a full game based on the idea of being a pigeon.

It's called Pigeon Simulator and it will be published by Bossa Studios. You may recall Bossa from their work on Surgeon Si...

With that, this article gets players set for the different kinds and everything else in between. Read on below to find out more about it.

What Are the Different Kinds Falling Under This Category?

Remedy Now Controls the Alan Wake IP

    Alan Wake teases more platforms.

Remedy Entertainment has regained the publishing rights to the Alan Wake franchise from Microsoft.

The development studio is currently working on Control, but they apparently found a bit of time to acquire the rights to the horror-action romp starring an author. The company told investors that they would earn €2.5 million on royalties for "previously released games" this fiscal year.

    Alan Wake was released back...

Planet Explorer Devs Lose Multiplayer Code in Server Crash

    Make backups.

Planet Explorers is an older title from the same development studio that brought us the relaxing and enjoyable My Time at Portia. Planet Explorers came out in late 2016 from Pathea Games. It is an open-world sandbox RPG. It had the usual stuff that players have come to expect from open-world sandbox games. There were survival elements, combat, building, crafting, and the sort. The game's primary focus was a Story Mode that was a-ok for those seeking that sort of a single...

    Review: The Sinking City (PC)

    That sinking feeling.

Frogware's The Sinking City is perhaps the best love letter to Lovecraft that we have seen in quite some time, but that may not be saying much. This most direct competition to The Sinking City was 2018's Call of Cthulhu, which really failed to capitalize on any single gameplay aspect. The Sinking City, on the other hand, at least manages to excel in one or two key areas, even if it barely stays afloat in others.

The city of Oakmont is the main location...

Halo: Reach Running on a PC in 4K and 60fps Looks Fantastic

    It begins.

The first wave of invites have gone out to a very small group of individuals selected to test Halo: Reach on the PC. Those who have been selected will have access to a single mission in Halo: Reach from today until July 1.

When I say that it was a "small group" that was selected, I mean it. As in the vast majority of people who have signed up as a Halo Insider have not been selected. 343 Industries notes that they picked a handful of people that have...

    F1 2019 Available Now

    Vrooom.

Codemasters released F1 2019 this week, a whopping two months earlier than previous entries in the franchise would normally be released at. However, that doesn't mean this game was rushed. In fact, Codemasters says that this release has actually had the longest development cycle of any of their F1 games. F1 2019 is out now for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. Naturally, this release goes hand in hand with a launch trailer for the game.

    In case you don't know...

There are over 90 new cards including 15 cross-faction ones included in this expansion. The new faction is the Syndicate. They sound kind of evil, right? There are also five new leader characters. Novigrad also adds in new abilities and gameplay mechanics...

My, what big teeth you have.

A new video for Bandai Namco's Code Vein was released today from the studio. This latest shows off one of the many bosses you will encounter during your action and/or adventure filled trip through the game. The video showcases The Successor of the Ribcage, a wolf-like creature that has hard hitting elemental attacks. He also utilizes some deadly chains to whip you, and not in the fun way.
