Ubisoft Pulls Licenses for The Crew, Makes the Game Completely Inaccessible to Buyers

From the same company trying to sell you a $130 version of Star Wars Outlaws.

From announcing a $130 edition of Star Wars Outlaws to pulling game licenses from those that bought The Crew, Ubisoft sure is on a roll this week.

The Crew was Ubisoft's open-world racing game that was pulled from sale back in December 2023. As of March 31, 2024, Ubisoft shut down the online servers for The Crew. This effectively made the game unplayable across all platforms, including: PC,...

Tim Sweeney Called Valve 'Assholes' in Email to Gabe Newell, Valve COO Says 'You Mad Bro?'

Tim Sweeney is always mad.

The antitrust lawsuit against Valve from Wolfire Games got a little spicy this week. To quickly get you up to speed: Wolfire claims that Valve uses its position with Steam to control game prices and muscle out competition. Though the initial lawsuit against Valve was dismissed, Wolfire amended their suit in May 2022 and the legal battle was back on.

It may have taken almost two years, but we are now starting to see some of the documents that...

Multiple studios across all SIE regions impacted.

Sony just laid off about 900 people across multiple PlayStation studios around the world. These 900 or so laid off employees account for roughly 8% of the total workforce for Sony Interactive Entertainment.

President and CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment, Jim Ryan, announced the layoffs to the public today. The public statement came after an email was sent to all employees informing them of the layoffs. From Ryan's...

Xbox Confirms PlayStation 5 Releases, Diablo 4 on Game Pass, and Future Hardware Plans

No, Starfield and Indiana Jones are not going multi-platform any time soon.

The heads of Xbox stayed true to their word and were indeed a part of a special edition of the Official Xbox Podcast. During today's pre-recorded podcast and subsequent blog post, head of Xbox Phil Spencer stated that four Xbox exclusives are going to be multi-platform releases. Is it Starfield? Indiana Jones? Gears of War? Halo?! No, no, no, and no. Though Spencer did not specify what those four titles ...

Rumor: Left 4 Dead VR is 'Real'

Take with a big grain of salt.

As far as rumors go, this one really isn't all that out of left field. Earlier today, Tyler McVicker of Valve News Network, suggested that a VR version of Left 4 Dead is real.

That's pretty much it. That's all he has to say on this particular matter: "Left 4 Dead is real." Oh, ok. Unsurprisingly, he dared not share anything additional to back up his claim.

Of course, saying that Left 4 Dead VR exists really isn't that...

The new studio is called Cloud Chamber and will have not one but two different locations for their operations. The team will operate both out of 2K's San Francisco Bay Area HQ in Novato, CA in addition to a new location in Montreal, Quebec. This marks the first Canadian office for 2K....

Quick, stop thinking about the TTK nerfs!

DICE released a new overview trailer for the upcoming Wake Island map coming very soon to Battlefield V. The map that has the honor of appearing in the most official Battlefield games will be released on December 12.

Private Matches for Battlefield V Finally Arrive Next Week

But they won't be called Private Matches.

DICE announced that their planned Private Matches feature is finally coming to Battlefield V. It will arrive on all platforms on December 9, but they won't be called Private Matches. Instead, DICE is calling them Community Games.

I can only imagine that the Battlefield V community is having some very mixed feelings right about now. There are probably wars being waged right now on Battlefield forums and subreddits between those...

Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey Out Today on Consoles

Console owners can now play the game reviewers were accused of not playing.

Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey is now available for the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One. Now those console players can (maybe) enjoy the game that critics "didn't play." This is at least according to former Assassin's Creed developer and creator of Ancestors Patrice Désilets.

However, that's not the purpose of today's news. Today, we're talking just about today's launch of the game...

The once Apple Arcade exclusive ventures on to other platforms today.

Song of Horror Coming to PS4 and Xbox in Q2 2020

A single-player horror game with permadeath is coming in 2020 to consoles.

Song of Horror offers up a fairly unique spin on the old horror game tropes. Unlike many other single-player horror experiences, when death takes your character in this one, they're gone for good. Today, Raiser Games and Protocol Games announced that their take on the survival horror genre will be launching on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in Q2 2020.

This announcement arrives just a few days ahead...

EA Quietly Added Snoop Dogg to NHL 20 Today

Don't look at me, I'm just as bewildered as you are.

NHL 20 from EA Sports was updated today. On any other day this would be quickly ignored. However, today? Today sees the addition of Snoop Dogg as both an announcer and a player.

Why? Reasons beyond "because" or "because money" simply elude me. I don't even see any announcement about this addition on the official NHL game website. The official EA Sports NHL Twitter does have a couple of mentions concerning...

  • DICE Nerfed the TTK Yet Again in Battlefield V

DICE Nerfed the TTK Yet Again in Battlefield V

Almost one year later and DICE is repeating the same exact mistakes.

Back on December 12, 2018, DICE decided to adjust the TTK (Time To Kill) for weapons in Battlefield V. A lot of the changes made weapons a fair bit less effective at actually taking out enemies. DICE said that they found that their "wider player base was dying too fast." That is to say, the shorter TTK wasn't too friendly for new players. To say that the core Battlefield community hated the changes is probably...

Phil Spencer Already Took the Next-gen Xbox Home

Some people get all the perks.

We may still be about a year away from the release of the next-gen consoles from both PlayStation and Microsoft, but that doesn't mean they don't already exist in some form. To that end, the head of Xbox, Phil Spencer, coyly announced this evening that he brought his Project Scarlett console home with him this week.

Spencer obviously held back on providing many details on his new hardware. He did state how Scarlett has become his primary...

A New Outlast Game was Just Announced

No, it's not a VR game.

Despite the inclusion of what appears to be some weird VR goggles on the announcement image, the next Outlast game is not, in fact, a VR horror game. This is a point that developer Red Barrels has had to state repeatedly on their brief announcement for The Outlast Trials.

While it may not be a VR game, it isn't exactly going to be Outlast 3. The Outlast Trials will be a co-op horror game set in the same universe as the previous two games....
