Microsoft Confirms Free Online Multiplayer for Halo Infinite

Confirmed after a short bout as a rumor.

Microsoft confirmed the short-lived rumor that Halo Infinite would have free multiplayer. Not only that, but they also confirmed that Halo Infinite, at least the multiplayer component, will support 120fps on Xbox Series X. I'm sure that will also hold true for the PC release as well. Sorry Xbox One owners, you can't handle all those delicious frames. ...

Valve Cracks Down on Using VPNs to Buy Games Cheaper

This should hopefully lead to more fair regional pricing.

For several years now, users were able to make use of a loophole that allowed them to buy games for cheaper if purchased from certain regions. Users were able to trick Steam into thinking they lived in one region where a price of a game was more favorable to them due to exchange rates. This had the unfortunate side-effect of developers and publishers having to increase prices in these regions to put a stop to those using VPNs...

Metacritic Finally Does Away with Day One User Scores

Perhaps done in an effort to suppress user score review bombing.

According to a new report by Paul Tassi, via Forbes, Metacritic seems to be doing away with allowing users to submit scores on games until at least a day after release. Tassi notes that user scores for the just released Ghost of Tsushima only has critical scores posted for the game. The user scores are currently showing a message that user reviews will be permitted starting July 18 at 12PM (PT).

The message...

The Third New Red Dead Redemption 2 Trailer is Here

As expected, Rockstar Games released the third new trailer for Red Dead Redemption 2. I'm sure nobody is going to read these opening words anyway and will just skip straight to the trailer, embedded below, so nothing I'll say up here really matters anyway!

Oculus Stealth Releases Gear VR Competitor Oculus Go

Earlier today, Oculus VR released what looks to be the first major competitor to things like the Gear VR by Samsung and Daydream from Google. They're calling it Oculus Go and it starts at $199 (USD) for the 32GB model or $249 for the 64GB model.

It's important to note that this is not a successor for the Oculus Rift. This is instead a standalone device that is about as powerful as a current-gen smartphone would be. The key difference here is that it doesn't require a phone...

Fortnite Season 4 Kicks Off with a Comet Sized Impact

So I guess all of that teasing about a comet in Fortnite has finally come to a head today. Epic tells me that the fourth season for their very popular battle royale game has started "with a bang." That is to say, pieces of the big comet in the sky have come crashing down in to the play area to alter it rather significantly. Fortnite Season 4 includes some new landscape to play in, new gravity defying Hop Rocks, over 100 new cosmetic items for the Battle Pass, and more. It should also...
