A Total War Saga: TROY Announcement Trailer

The official announcement of a new Total War game is here.

In a shock to nobody, the leak that came out literally just yesterday has been proven to be true. Everybody pretend to be shocked! A reveal trailer is out today for A Total War Saga: TROY. I believe the only thing that was incorrect in the early leak was the order of the words in the game's title.

This new entry in the Total War franchise takes inspiration from Homer's Iliad. As such, you can expect there to be a big emphasis on the Trojan War and a big emphasis on time-appropriate features, roles, weapons, and...

Rockstar Now Has Their Own PC Games Launcher

Get GTA: San Andreas for free if you use it.

Rockstar now has their own game launcher on the PC. The development studio quietly released this new launcher a short time ago today. They are attempting to entice users to download and use the installer by giving away a free copy of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas for a limited time.

Interesting enough, the Rockstar Games Launcher includes some features that took other launchers a little bit of time to add after release. This launcher includes cloud save support, a shop, and automatic updates. The prices on the store seem to...

Watch Almost an Hour of Death Stranding Gameplay

A lot of gameplay footage that may finally provide a lot of answers.

The marketing for the Kojima Productions game, Death Stranding, has left consumers with more questions than answers. It's a game from the mind of Hideo Kojima, so of course the marketing was going to be odd. The problem was, there are a lot of people that just have no idea about what the game was even about even after the numerous trailers.

Maybe sitting down and watching 50 minutes of gameplay will help clear up that confusion. If that doesn't work, then maybe a breakdown of the gameplay footage from...

Final Fantasy VII Remake Tokyo Game Show 2019 Trailer

The trailer is at the bottom after these boring words.

Square Enix showed off an all new trailer for Final Fantasy VII Remake this week at the Tokyo Game Show. The new trailer offers a fresh look at gameplay, the slums of Midgar, and a peak at the mini-games and summons. Midgar is home to the Shinra Electric Power Company. This kind of totally evil company is in conflict with Avalanche, a resistance group fighting to keep their planet alive. You will also get your first look at some of the Shinra operatives known as The Turks.

Square Enix also included their new artwork...

Cube World is Coming to Steam

Let me take you back to the year 2013...

In 2013, a little game called Cube World came out in an "alpha" release. It was a cute, stylized adventure-RPG that offered a ton of freedom, battles, exploration, and more. A big appeal of the alpha was being able to have all of these adventures with your friends in one world. To its credit, the limited content of the alpha was quite enjoyable but the promise of bigger and better was always just around the corner. The problem came when it was just never updated! Eventually the developer went dark.

We would sometimes...

Capcom Hit with Layoffs; Next Dead Rising Reduced in Scope

This week, Capcom confirmed that roughly 30% of their Vancouver studio were laid off due to a restructuring. This confirmation was provided to Kotaku after rumors started swirling that layoffs were happening. This restructuring seems to have impacted the company in a number of ways, most notably with the cancellation of an unannounced project and the reduction in scope for the next Dead Rising game.
Capcom Vancouver has undergone a restructure which has impacted approximately 30% of the studio, as part of its regular periodic assessment of upcoming projects and overall studio goals. The team is continuing to work hard to support

Subnautica Dev Fired Over Racist and Transphobic Remarks on Twitter

Simon Chylinski is a former sound designer that worked with Unknown Worlds on the recently released Subnautica. Chylinski was fired this week after many people on social media discovered his rather vile statements and behavior on his Twitter account. Remarks that very clearly show Chylinski holds a variety of racist and transphobic tendencies.

I noticed these past few days a number of people voicing their disdain on Twitter for tweets offered up by Chylinski in the past. Some of the examples can be seen below.

Examples of Chylinski total lack of empathy includes tweets about immigration (seen above) bringing "3rd world tier crime rates and IQ" to area...

Square Enix Acknowledges Issues with Final Fantasy XV PC Benchmark

The recent Final Fantasy XV benchmark for the PC seems to have had a few issues, as outlined by the team at Gamers Nexus. Among those issues were several LOD and culling issues that led to performance woes for a variety of hardware, especially if you were using anything but an Nvidia GPU.

Square Enix notes that they are aware of many of these issues and promise that they will be working on the performance for the final release of the game on March 6, 2018.
We wanted the benchmark tool to approximate the level of visual quality and performance you can expect from your PC environment when running FINAL FANTASY XV WINDOWS EDITION. A

  • Red Dead Redemption 2 Rumors Provide New Details on Single Player and Multiplayer Including Battle Royale Mode

A rumor that seemingly sprung up over night from a single outlet, perhaps sheds a few details on some of the gameplay features we can expect to see in Red Dead Redemption 2. Trusted Reviews published a rumor earlier today that suggests that Red Dead Redemption 2 will include the ability to play in first-person mode, the multiplayer will include a Battle Royale mode, and more. Trusted Reviews say that they first learned about a lot of these potential details back in August of 2017. It was only due to confirmation of some of the included details on the document by Rockstar's own marketing materials that Trusted Reviews feels confident enough to publish what they were told. Of course, this is still very much a rumor unt...

  • Hands On Gameplay Preview of Past Cure

Hands On Gameplay Preview of Past Cure

Back in January, I was offered the opportunity to try out an early build of the upcoming psychological thriller meets third-person action title, Past Cure. The build of the game I played was just two levels from the full game. At the time of the preview, the game was still very much in development at Phantom 8 Studio. Typically, when you play a game you notice that they tend to mesh all of their gameplay elements into a singular focus for the entirety of the experience. There usually isn't a very clear-cut change in tone and gameplay focus between two levels. That doesn't seem to be the case with Past Cure. Instead, there will be levels where the playable character Ian, relies on stealth, avoidance, and capacity to solve some fairly easy puzzles. All of these happen in a dark, creepy dream-world filled with visions and nightmares that don't ...
