A Total War Saga: TROY Announcement Trailer

The official announcement of a new Total War game is here.

In a shock to nobody, the leak that came out literally just yesterday has been proven to be true. Everybody pretend to be shocked! A reveal trailer is out today for A Total War Saga: TROY. I believe the only thing that was incorrect in the early leak was the order of the words in the game's title.

This new entry in the Total War franchise takes inspiration from Homer's Iliad. As such, you can expect there to be a big emphasis on the Trojan War and a big emphasis on time-appropriate features, roles, weapons, and...

Rockstar Now Has Their Own PC Games Launcher

Get GTA: San Andreas for free if you use it.

Rockstar now has their own game launcher on the PC. The development studio quietly released this new launcher a short time ago today. They are attempting to entice users to download and use the installer by giving away a free copy of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas for a limited time.

Interesting enough, the Rockstar Games Launcher includes some features that took other launchers a little bit of time to add after release. This launcher includes cloud save support, a shop, and automatic updates. The prices on the store seem to...

Watch Almost an Hour of Death Stranding Gameplay

A lot of gameplay footage that may finally provide a lot of answers.

The marketing for the Kojima Productions game, Death Stranding, has left consumers with more questions than answers. It's a game from the mind of Hideo Kojima, so of course the marketing was going to be odd. The problem was, there are a lot of people that just have no idea about what the game was even about even after the numerous trailers.

Maybe sitting down and watching 50 minutes of gameplay will help clear up that confusion. If that doesn't work, then maybe a breakdown of the gameplay footage from...

Final Fantasy VII Remake Tokyo Game Show 2019 Trailer

The trailer is at the bottom after these boring words.

Square Enix showed off an all new trailer for Final Fantasy VII Remake this week at the Tokyo Game Show. The new trailer offers a fresh look at gameplay, the slums of Midgar, and a peak at the mini-games and summons. Midgar is home to the Shinra Electric Power Company. This kind of totally evil company is in conflict with Avalanche, a resistance group fighting to keep their planet alive. You will also get your first look at some of the Shinra operatives known as The Turks.

Square Enix also included their new artwork...

Cube World is Coming to Steam

Let me take you back to the year 2013...

In 2013, a little game called Cube World came out in an "alpha" release. It was a cute, stylized adventure-RPG that offered a ton of freedom, battles, exploration, and more. A big appeal of the alpha was being able to have all of these adventures with your friends in one world. To its credit, the limited content of the alpha was quite enjoyable but the promise of bigger and better was always just around the corner. The problem came when it was just never updated! Eventually the developer went dark.

We would sometimes...

Valve Discusses Counter-Strike: Global Offensive Negev Changes

In a blog posting that went up last night, Valve started to detail some of the changes and thoughts they have in mind for the Negev in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. Some of these changes are already being tested as part of a beta update for CS:GO but they say that the changes, barring any issues, will go live soon. Their main focus right now is making the Negev a weapon that can provide adequate suppression in the heat of a battle.

A Big Steam Client Update was Just Released

Valve pushed out a rather beefy update to the Steam client. No, there aren't really any visual or layout changes in this update, but it does have a lot of improvements for the client for those across all platforms that Steam is available on.

Crytek Now Taking a 5 Percent Cut from Games Made with CryEngine 5.5

In an announcement made just today, Crytek announced that they will now take just a 5% royalty fee from commercial titles that make use of CryEngine 5.5 and above.

This goes hand-in-hand with an update to CryEngine that introduced a "range of improvements, enhancements, new learning offerings, and full access to the editor source code."
Creators who release games using CRYENGINE V will find development faster and easier than ever before and incur costs only after $5,000 is raised in revenue. An enterprise tier will also be introduced for custom support packages and royalty buyouts. Developers currently developing on CRYENGINE 5.0-5.4 can apply for a royalty exemption if they wish to stay on the current

  • Vivendi Sells Entire Stake in Ubisoft, Tencent Takes Five Percent

Vivendi Sells Entire Stake in Ubisoft, Tencent Takes Five Percent

Back in October 2015, Vivendi began what appeared to be a takeover of Ubisoft when they purchased 10% of all Ubisoft's stocks. In June 2016, Vivendi upped their ownership to a bit over 20%. As of April 2017, Vivendi owned 25% of Ubisoft and were allegedly eyeing a takeover of the company late in 2017. Cut to the present, March 2018, and Vivendi has sold off all of their stock in Ubisoft, which represented 27.3% of Ubisoft's capital. The main buyer was Guillemot Brothers SE, meaning that Ubisoft is back to its original founders. However, roughly 8% of Ubisoft has been picked up by two others. These include the Ontario Teachers' P...

  • Epic Freely Releases Paragon Assets Valued at $12 Million

Epic Freely Releases Paragon Assets Valued at $12 Million

In January, Epic Games decided to shut down their action-MOBA title Paragon. The obvious reason being that they wanted to shift more attention on to Fortnite Battle Royale. Even though it's gone, Paragon won't soon be forgotten because Epic just released assets from the game that have been valued at $12 million (USD).

The $12 million worth of Paragon assets have been released for free. That means that anybody using Unreal Engine 4 for development purposes can make use of any of the 20 character models, any of the skins, all animations, all visual work, and even all dialogue lines. Even more, over 1,500 pieces of environmental work are included in this release. ...

  • GDC 2018: Microsoft Announces DirectX Raytracing

GDC 2018: Microsoft Announces DirectX Raytracing

Though the adoption of dedicated DirectX 12 games is near non-existent, that hasn't stopped companies like Microsoft from adding in new features and APIs. The latest announcement came today in the form of a new API dedicated to facilitating the creation of real-time ray tracing.

This is a fairly simplified explanation from Wikipedia.
Optical ray tracing describes a method for producing visual images constructed in 3D computer graphics environments, with more photorealism than either ray casting or scanline rendering techniques. It works by tracing a path from an imaginary eye through each pixel in a virtual screen, and calculating the color of the object visible through it. Scenes in ray tracing are described mathematica
