Tetris Effect Coming to PC Next Week as Epic Store Exclusive

No word on if it's a timed exclusive.

The game that many called 2018's game of the year is coming very soon to the PC. That's right, Tetris Effect brings its psychedelic strategy-puzzle gameplay to a PC somewhat near you on July 23. Ah, but there is a catch, because of course there is.

In case you missed it, Tetris Effect is exclusive to the Epic Games Store. There is no saying whether or not this is a timed exclusive release, or if this third-party PC release will remain an exclusive to that launcher. This release will mark the first time that the game was available...

Horror Game Devotion May Not be Re-released

Developer says this may change, but not any time soon.

This past February, Taiwan-based Red Candle Games pulled their then newly released horror title, Devotion, from the Steam store. This came after it was discovered that the game had shipped with an Easter egg that references how China's president, Xi Jinping, looks like Winnie the Pooh. What followed was a wave of review bombing on Steam from upset Chinese citizens that continued to toe the line that the government has repeatedly pushed upon them.

The original plan from Red Candle Games was to remove the game from...

Introducing Steam Labs - A Place to Test New Steam Features

Launching today with three experiments.

Valve has just launched a new area on Steam where users can test out new, experimental features for Steam. They're calling this area the Steam Labs and it is here where users will be able to test out potential new Steam features. These tests may one day become commonplace on Steam, but for now they are mere experiments ripe for testing and potential changes based on user feedback.

If you ever used Gmail, you may already know what to expect from these Labs experiments. That is to say, there is no guarantee that they will be fully...

Facebook Reportedly Bringing Splinter Cell Back... as a VR Game

Who wished on a monkey's paw?!

There is a story circulating today saying that Facebook may have already signed deals with Ubisoft to bring back Splinter Cell and a new Assassin's Creed title. That's not the weird part. The weird part here is that the deal is to create VR games in these two popular franchises. And since it's Facebook that pushed the deal, that would mean that the games would be Oculus "exclusive" and sold through their Oculus Store.

This is, at least right now, merely a rumor. It came to light today via The Information (full article is locked...

  • Shenmue and Shenmue 2 Getting Re-Releases on PS4, XB1, and PC in 2018

Shenmue and Shenmue 2 Getting Re-Releases on PS4, XB1, and PC in 2018

Sega apparently announced tonight that they are re-releasing both Shenmue and Shenmue II for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC some time in 2018. People seem to be rather excited about this announcement. Also, the Steam Store listing for Shenmue I&II is already up.

Sega says that the Shenmue I&II re-release is the "definitive versions" of both games. They will include such modern features like scalable screen resolutions, choice of modern or classic control schemes, various graphical options on the PC version, updated user interface, and the option to play with either the original Japanese or English voice-overs. I believe...

  • Rumor: New BioShock in Development from 2K

Rumor: New BioShock in Development from 2K

According to some quick investigative work by Kotaku's Jason Schreier, a "top-secret" 2K studio is working on a "top-secret" new BioShock game. Schreier found this out while reporting on a story about Hangar 13 and how that studio lost its way with Mafia III.

This should probably not come as too big of a surprise to anybody. It will be interesting to see how this new BioShock game fares without Ken Levine and Irrational Games.

  • Terraria: Otherworld Cancelled After 3 Years of Development

Terraria: Otherworld Cancelled After 3 Years of Development

Three years ago Re-Logic announced Terraria: Otherworld, an "alternate dimension" to the Terraria universe that you probably know and maybe even love. The game was going to task players with trying to restore a once-pristine world that has been "overrun by a malevolent force that has corrupted nature itself." It wanted to combine elements of sandbox gameplay with RPG elements and strategy elements. That is to say: It was essentially Terraria set in an alternate universe.

Well, it's been cancelled. The announcement came via the official Terraria forums yesterday evening.

  • King of Nothing: Billy Mitchell Stripped of Records, Banned

King of Nothing: Billy Mitchell Stripped of Records, Banned

Most of Billy Mitchell's world records and high scores were stripped from him today following allegations that he cheated when he "earned" his high score in Donkey Kong of 1,062,800 points. The records, originally approved by Twin Galaxies, were subsequently stripped by Twin Galaxies following an "extensive research period" into claims that Mitchell utilized an emulator to obtain that high score. Mitchell first earned the record in Donkey Kong back in 1982. He then re-set the record in 2007 with a score of 1,050,200. In February 2010 Hank Chien took and held the record until Mitchell reclaimed the record in July 2010. Since then, multiple others held the record before ending up with the current holder Robbie Lakeman with a score of 1,247,700, set on February 2, 2018. On the same day, the Donkey Kong Forum removed Mitchell's scores after Jeremy Young analyzed Mitchell's older footage and found a number of telltale signs that a MAME arcade emulator was used to set his previous records. The use of emulators instead of the actual arcade hardw...

Sure, we know enough about Geralt, and others that are coming to Soulcalibur VI, so let's move on and get some fresh meat in here to talk about! The latest reveal today is for Siegfried Schtauffen, a familiar name to those familiar with the franchise.

Critical Consensus: God of War for PlayStation 4 is One of 2018's Best Games

The reviews for the new PlayStation 4 God of War started to come out early this morning and hot damn, it looks like it's a pretty good game. Alright, "pretty good" might be an understatement here because it's sitting at a 95 overall rating through OpenCritic and 94 on Metacritic. This places it in the top 0.1% of all games currently reviewed on OpenCritic.

Both sites don't have any reviews that are lower than 80% as of the time of this posting. Let's see what some outlets that aren't Total Gaming Network have to say about their time with God of War.
