After Us Review (PS5)

After Us offers a glimpse of our future and a warning of things to come.

A gaming experience where you engage in thoughtful introspection, wordless encounters, and some platforming across Earth's many diverse locations to undo the devastation caused by global warming sounds like an intriguing idea on paper. Its execution in After Us, however, leaves quite a bit to be desired. Some awkward platforming, poor combat, and performance woes will ultimately leave you feeling a little less...

Redfall is Arkane's Worst Game Ever

It's also the worst "AAA" developed title in recent memory.

It was a struggle to finish Redfall. It was an absolute struggle thanks to performance issues, technical deficiencies, crashes, broken A.I., and uninspired quest design. It was the antithesis of fun and I pushed myself to complete the game out of pure spite.

Prior to playing Redfall, I saw Arkane as a studio that could do no wrong when it comes to their output. Dark Messiah of Might and Magic in 2006...

Watch YouTube, take notes, chat, and more.

Valve just released a new beta update for Steam that includes a wealth of new features, updated old features, and some under the hood changes. While we don't typically write about updates released for the Steam Client Beta, this particular update had enough cool new features that it was worth a mention.

Right now, you can opt into the new beta for the Steam client that makes some drastic changes to the In-Game Overlay. Now, you...

UK Blocks Microsoft Activision Merger

The CMA claims the deal would harm cloud gaming.

Cloud gaming. Cloud gaming is the reason why the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) in the UK voted to block the $69 billion deal that would see Microsoft taking over Activision Blizzard.

The decision didn't come down to concerns over Call of Duty exclusivity or anything that would make some measure of sense. No, it came down to the CMA being concerned that the deal would "undermine new and innovative" competition...

Report: E3 2023 is Canceled

This fate was inevitable.

According to a report by IGN, E3 2023 is canceled. This comes after weeks of publishers and gaming companies stating that they were not going to attend E3 this year, including Ubisoft, Microsoft, Sony, Nintendo, Sega, Tencent, and more.

IGN's report from March 30 says that two separate sources confirmed with them that the Entertainment Software Association (ESA; the group behind E3) sent out emails to ESA members earlier today announcing the cancellation....

  • Capcom Promises Fix for Resident Evil Village Performance Issues

Capcom Promises Fix for Resident Evil Village Performance Issues

Capcom is pushed into action after hackers release a better performing version.

This week, a cracked version of Resident Evil Village was released by Empress. With it came word that this cracked release pretty much eliminated the very severe and very apparent framerate dips and hitching found in the official release of the game. The culprit seemed to be a double whammy of DRM that Capcom implemented into the game: Denuvo and Capcom's own DRM system.

    The hitching and framerate...

Despite Report, Marvel's Avengers' Wakanda Campaign is Not 25 Hours Long

    Lost in translation.

An earlier report about the upcoming Wakanda campaign for Marvel's Avengers said that the new content would take players about 25 hours to complete. This report, presented by Entertainment Weekly, claimed that the 25 hours would be in addition to the content available in the base game.

Unfortunately, that seems to be a misinterpretation by the person who wrote the article. Square Enix clarified what was actually meant by this "25 hour" remark....

Valve Announces Steam Deck, A Handheld PC Starting at $399

This new device is the first in a new series of handheld PC from Valve.

Back in May 2021, a rumor came out suggesting that Valve was working on a new handheld PC device called the SteamPal. While that is partially true, the one thing that didn't stick through to the end was the name. These devices are officially called Steam Deck and they start at a pretty affordable $399 (USD) MSRP.

Valve says that Steam Deck is a "powerful all-in-one portable PC." It has a...

WNBA Star Candace Parker is First Woman on Cover of NBA2K

There's already so much outrage. So very, very much.

2K Sports announced today that the Chicago Sky athlete, Candace Parker, will be the first woman and the first WNBA player ever to grace the cover of an NBA 2K game. She will be featured prominently on a special version of NBA 2K22's Standard Edition.

Gamers are massively upset about this. This is in spite of the fact that the version of the game that will feature Parker on the cover will only be sold through GameStop...

In a new Battlefield Briefing, EA made it clear that there will be two separate groups of cross-play players: One group will feature PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5. The other group will include Xbox One and PlayStation 4 players.

It's got Spongebob. It's got the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. It's got Reptar.

A question that is often asked, perhaps more than anything else for new and experienced gamers alike, is where should I start when looking to upgrade my gaming system and what will give me the best bang for my buck in terms of a performance upgrade. For the most part, it’ll ultimately come down to what you’re using your gaming system for – if you’re sticking to games that have lower system requirements or essentially none like growing genres in online betting and gambling for example with hard rock...

  • Kojima Doesn't Like Adding 'Director's Cut' to Death Stranding Director's Cut

    Man, what?

Recently, Sony and Kojima Productions announced Death Stranding Director's Cut for the PlayStation 5. This was already rather confusing since the game is the brainchild of Hideo Kojima, so how could this new release be a Director's Cut of any sort? Well, it gets even more confusing after Kojima expressed his annoyance with adding Director's Cut to something that isn't actually cut.

That seems to make sense seeing as how Death Stranding Director's Cut is actually...
