Ion Fury Devs Apologize for Numerous Sexist, Homophobic, and Transphobic Remarks

Sweeping changes are promised as a result.

Voidpoint, the studio behind the just released Ion Fury, has apologized for a series of "incidents" wherein multiple developers were found to use transphobic, ableist, homophobic, and sexist language in the game's official Discord channel. This is on top of some homophobic language found within the game itself.

Over the weekend, a thread had popped up on gaming forum ResetEra that showed multiple instances where the developers had made transphobic remarks via Discord. Members of the dev team were also shown to make...

Respawn Apologizes to Ass-hat Gamers for 'Ass-hat' Remarks

Statement issued from Respawn's Vince Zampella.

Respawn's CEO Vince Zampella issued a bit of an apology today after members of the Apex Legends development team called a bunch of toxic ass-hat gamers, well... they called them ass-hats. Donning their biggest surprised Pikachu face possible, these Gamers™ got extra angry when they realized they couldn't just keep dishing it out and not expect some form of retaliation in return. Some continued to throw tantrums, others called for boycots, while still others did their best "I studied the blade" impersonation.

Even...

Sony Bought Insomniac Games Today

Get ready for more Spider-Man.

Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) has officially purchased Insomniac Games today. You're probably surprised to hear that the studio that developed last year's PlayStation 4 exclusive Spider-Man wasn't already owned by Sony prior to this week.

Insomniac Games was first started in 1994 and remained an independent game developer for this 25 year span of time. They created Spyro the Dragon, the Ratchet & Clank games, along with the Resistance franchise. All of these franchises were PlayStation exclusives, at least initially. Every so...

2K is bringing back their Carnival Games franchise, this time for the Nintendo Switch. The game is simply going to be titled Carnival Games and it will release on November 6 for $39.99 (USD). I assume this is a reboot of the series given that it's not like "Carnival Games 3."
Like a real-life county fair, Carnival Games allows players of all ages and experience levels to enjoy classic games like ring toss ("Post Master") and alley ball horse racing ("Roll-R-Derby"), as well as brand new attractions like drone racing ("Light Speed") and cosmic bowling ("Cosmic Strike"). • EA Shelves Another Star Wars Game Following Amy Hennig's Departure

EA Shelves Another Star Wars Game Following Amy Hennig's Departure

In October 2017, EA shut down Visceral Games (RIP), which was working on an untitled Star Wars game. Development on the game, codenamed Ragtag, was led by the former Uncharted director Amy Hennig. The higher-ups at EA felt as though the game was too linear and shifted the development over to EA Vancouver following Visceral's premature death. According to a variety of reports, the game's development at EA Vancouver was rocky, at best. Fast-forward to this week when Hennig revealed what happened with the game's development and her current status. In speaking with Eurogamer at the Gamelab conference in Barcelona, Hennig reveals that she left EA back in January in order to start up he...

World of Tanks: Mercenaries Released on PlayStation 4 and Xbox

Wargaming announced the latest entry in their "tank battle MMO franchise" today with the reveal of World of Tanks: Mercenaries. This one is for the consoles and it is essentially a substantial update of their free-to-play World of Tanks game but with more and different stuff.

You like stuff, right? Me too.
World of Tanks: Mercenaries invites players to join a new fight in a world where history has been rewritten and lawlessness has taken hold. Endless wars have left the world fractured, and in the vacuum of power left by the destabilization of global powers, soldiers and civilians fight for themselves, taking up contracts to become soldiers of fortune. Anyone can

  • A Very Cute Hamster is the Next Overwatch Hero

A Very Cute Hamster is the Next Overwatch Hero

Blizzard just revealed their next hero for Overwatch and it's a hamster. It's a 14-year old hamster named Hammond that fights in a giant mech suit. The mech suit can turn into a ball to roll around the battlefield. It can also turn into a literal wrecking ball. It's probably super appropriate then that the character's in-game name is Wrecking Ball.

Have we crossed into being Battleborn yet? I feel like we have. Hey, whatever. So long as it's fun, right? Let's get some of that backstory here for Hammond the hamster.
"Do not anger the hamster." In one of the many experiments carried out at Horizon Lunar Colony, animals were given genetic therapy to assess their adaptation to extended periods of habitation on the moon. As an unexpected side effect, several of them exhibited exceptional growth in physical

Battlefield V Closed Alpha Begins Tonight

In about four hours from the time of this post, the closed alpha for Battlefield V will begin. The Battlefield website provides all of the details that players may want to know, including the system requirements, what maps are included, and more.

Invites for the alpha went out earlier today. Apparently, those who signed up for the Battlefield Insider newsletter however long ago had a chance to be invited. There are also some Twitter accounts that are currently giving away some keys for the alpha. Good luck with those.

I also hear that some streamers and YouTube personalities may have some keys to give out during the course of the alpha.

Here is a look at the content included with this alpha.
What Modes and Maps will the Closed Alpha Contain? If you get invit

  • PUBG Corp Drops Lawsuit Against Epic Games and Fortnite

PUBG Corp Drops Lawsuit Against Epic Games and Fortnite

As fast as the PUBG lawsuit came so it went. PUBG Corp. has apparently dropped their lawsuit against Epic Games and the Fortnite Battle Royale game. Bloomberg notes that the lawsuit, which began in January and I could have sworn I put up a news post about, has been withdrawn from the South Korean court system in which it was originally placed. Neither PUBG nor their legal representation have issued a statement as to why the lawsuit was withdrawn but I would assume it was because they realized just how silly that lawsuit actually is. Epic also did not issue any statement about this new development. As Bloomberg con...
