Report: E3 2023 is Canceled

This fate was inevitable.

According to a report by IGN, E3 2023 is canceled. This comes after weeks of publishers and gaming companies stating that they were not going to attend E3 this year, including Ubisoft, Microsoft, Sony, Nintendo, Sega, Tencent, and more.

IGN's report from March 30 says that two separate sources confirmed with them that the Entertainment Software Association (ESA; the group behind E3) sent out emails to ESA members earlier today announcing the cancellation....

Valve Announces Counter-Strike 2

Valve's massively popular FPS gets an engine upgrade and a test starting today.

Valve officially announced Counter-Strike 2 today after weeks of teases, speculation, and rumors. The developer calls this "the largest technical leap forward in Counter-Strike's history" and I'm inclined to believe it.

Counter-Strike 2 will launch to everyone starting in Summer of 2023. Counter-Strike 2 will be a free upgrade to Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. Some Counter-Strike:...

Sony's Jim Ryan Reportedly Said His Goal is to 'Block Your Merger' in Closed Door Meeting with Activision

The CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment reportedly had some choice words during a meeting with Activision.

It has been a ridiculous day for Sony when it comes to new details that have come out about the company's opposition to the Microsoft and Activision Blizzard merger.

First, a new report from The Verge's Tom Warren shared some key pieces of information from documents (PDF download) that were recently submitted to the UK's Competition and Markets Authority (CMA)....

Review: The Outer Worlds: Spacer's Choice Edition

An easy purchase for new players but maybe a hard sell for existing owners.

It was not until I reinstalled the original PC release of The Outer Worlds that I was able to really appreciate the improvements made with the release of The Outer Worlds: Spacer's Choice Edition. Initially, I believed that this looked exactly like the same game that I had played on PC back in late 2019 when it first came out.

"I'm just not seeing what makes this Spacer's Choice Edition worth...

  • Here's Another Reason to Root for Approval of the Microsoft and Activision Deal

In case you wanted another reason to want the acquisition to be approved.

Current Activision Blizzard CEO, Bobby Kotick, will remain as the CEO of the company should Microsoft's $69 billion (USD) acquisition be blocked by regulators. This is according to sources speaking to Fox Business. They flatly say that if the deal falls through, Bobby Kotick "will absolutely remain at the gaming giant to run the company."

Unfortunately, it's not particularly clear what...

Atomic Heart Has Reasonable System Requirements

But will it be stutter free?

The system requirements for Atomic Heart were released to the public this past week. From the looks of things, the range of hardware that will be able to run this game is broad, which should be good for those that don't have the most cutting edge gear.

Set to release on February 21, Atomic Heart will send players into an alternate history where robots from the USSR go awry and you must use a variety of weapons and abilities to bring that robotic...

Battlefield 2042 Update 3.2.1 Changelog Preview

This update is expected to drop in the first half of the week starting February 12.

DICE just put up the current changelog for the upcoming Update 3.2.1 for Battlefield 2042. This update, expected to go live early next week. This update seems to be largely focused on fine tuning the changes and content that were made in the recent Update 3.2.0 release.

It seems rather odd, but one of the biggest changes in Update 3.2.1 is a massive nerf to the Tracer Dart. The velocity...

The Evil Within 3 Teased in Hi-Fi Rush Easter Egg

Please let this be a teaser for The Evil Within 3. Please!

Sadly, The Evil Within 3 has not (yet) been announced by series developer Tango Gameworks. However, if a newly discovered Easter egg tucked away in their latest release Hi-Fi Rush is any indication, an announcement may be coming soon.

Hi-Fi Rush is already rather full of references to The Evil Within, as GamesRadar+ has kindly pointed out. While all of those other references were fun little nods to the franchise,...

Professor Layton is Coming Back via the Nintendo Switch

The puzzle solving professor is back after a long hiatus.

The last Professor Layton game came out a fair number of year back. There was technically Layton's Mystery Journey: Katrielle and the Millionaires' Conspiracy in 2017, but that focused on Professor Layton's daughter. The last actual "Professor Layton" game came out for the Nintendo 3DS in 2013/2014.

Well, it looks like Level-5 is bringing the good Professor back as they announced Professor Layton and The...

    Performance Improvements Promised for Forspoken

Though, there is no date yet.

Forspoken is a game that certainly has some performance woes on both the PlayStation 5 and PC. The lofty hardware requirements on PC certainly paint a picture of a game that has been poorly optimized. Trying to play the game on PC at 1440p with just 60FPS on a 1080 Ti wasn't exactly what I would consider "a fun time." Settings had to be lowered considerably and FSR had to be set to Ultra Performance to get anywhere near a stable 60FPS. Even then,...

Monthly Poll

  • Poll: What Platform Do you Game on the Most?
    by Shawn Zipay
Do you prefer consoles? PC? Maybe mobile is your preferred platform?

This month's poll is a bit generic if only because I really don't know what to ask right now and this is the easiest thing that came to mind. The question is simple: Which sort of platform do you prefer to play games on?

Do you like playing on consoles? Do you prefer to play games on PC? What about mobile games? Maybe you prefer to spend most of your time on your phone playing this, that, or the other....
Consoles (Ex: PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo, etc.)
    PC (Including Steam Deck)
Mobile (Ex: iOS or Android phones/tablets)
Standalone VR (Ex: Meta Quest 2)
Other (Ex: No preference or maybe you play only at arcades or those handheld Tiger Electronic games)
