Amnesia: The Bunker Review (PC)

Frictional Games plays it safe. Perhaps a little too safe.

Frictional Games is known for crafting some of the most memorable horror game experiences over the past 15 years. They began with the Prenumbra series, a trio of titles that gave us our first taste of Frictional's penchant for blending survival horror with physics-based environmental puzzles. The studio then saw a spike in popularity with their next release, Amnesia: The Dark Descent. Amnesia: The Dark Descent expanded upon the...

After Us Review (PS5)

After Us offers a glimpse of our future and a warning of things to come.

A gaming experience where you engage in thoughtful introspection, wordless encounters, and some platforming across Earth's many diverse locations to undo the devastation caused by global warming sounds like an intriguing idea on paper. Its execution in After Us, however, leaves quite a bit to be desired. Some awkward platforming, poor combat, and performance woes will ultimately leave you feeling a little less...

Redfall is Arkane's Worst Game Ever

It's also the worst "AAA" developed title in recent memory.

It was a struggle to finish Redfall. It was an absolute struggle thanks to performance issues, technical deficiencies, crashes, broken A.I., and uninspired quest design. It was the antithesis of fun and I pushed myself to complete the game out of pure spite.

Prior to playing Redfall, I saw Arkane as a studio that could do no wrong when it comes to their output. Dark Messiah of Might and Magic in 2006...

Latest Steam Beta Makes Major Overhaul to the In-game Overlay

Watch YouTube, take notes, chat, and more.

Valve just released a new beta update for Steam that includes a wealth of new features, updated old features, and some under the hood changes. While we don't typically write about updates released for the Steam Client Beta, this particular update had enough cool new features that it was worth a mention.

Right now, you can opt into the new beta for the Steam client that makes some drastic changes to the In-Game Overlay. Now, you...

UK Blocks Microsoft Activision Merger

The CMA claims the deal would harm cloud gaming.

Cloud gaming. Cloud gaming is the reason why the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) in the UK voted to block the $69 billion deal that would see Microsoft taking over Activision Blizzard.

The decision didn't come down to concerns over Call of Duty exclusivity or anything that would make some measure of sense. No, it came down to the CMA being concerned that the deal would "undermine new and innovative" competition...

The Steam Winter Sale for 2021 is Live

Dread it, run from it, savings arrive all the same.

It's that time of year again. The time of the year where snow... Well, snow should be falling but global warming would rather give us unseasonably high temperatures. It's also the time of year where gifts are given and exchanged in a ritual ceremony known as Christmas. Yep, it's the holiday season again and that means it's time for the big Steam Winter Sale.

Valve says that there are over 50,000 games and pieces of content...

Call of Duty Warzone Hacked Lobbies Offer Instant Max Weapon Upgrades

This will probably be fixed soon.

It looks like there is a new server-wide hack or exploit going around in Call of Duty: Warzone at present. Players have reported joining hacked lobbies in various Warzone game types that will instantly level up their weapon to max level (70) after earning just one kill.

According to a post on Reddit, streamer Dr Disrespect encountered this hacked lobby weapon boost earlier today. Another streamer, TimTheTatman also found himself in one...

  • Rockstar is Offering Another Free Game to Owners of Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy

Rockstar is feeling particularly giving. Tis the season.

Though it has been updated with at least one major patch, the current state of Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition still isn't particularly great. As a way of apologizing to fans, at least those on the PC, Rockstar Games offered up free copies of the older, non-definitive editions for each game to those that purchased The Trilogy.

I guess that wasn't enough because Rockstar is now offering all...

  • Get Used to PC Games Releasing at $70

Get Used to PC Games Releasing at $70

It all started when the next-gen consoles were released in 2020. Ever since the Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and the PlayStation 5 were released, more and more game releases have been priced at $70 (USD). However, these prices seem to be limited to the next-gen experiences and the term "next-gen tax" was coined. For a while there, it seemed as though the "typical" $60 prices would stick around for older-generation consoles as well as PC. Unfortunately, with the recent release...

Battlefield 2042 May Not Get Any New Content Until March

This leak comes from well-known data miner temporyal.

The bad news that is the literal everything surrounding Battlefield 2042 will continue to get that much worse if the latest leak is to be believed. To say that the launch of the anticipated latest release in the Battlefield franchise was a bit lacking would be an understatement. Unfortunately, it looks like the game will have to limp along until at least March 2022.

A newly shared data mine, from known Battlefield data...

Ubisoft is Bleeding Employees in Wake of Company-wide Issues

Numerous employees are quitting due to low pay, the lack of change, and other issues.

People quitting their jobs in search of more fulfilling careers really isn't all that uncommon here in late 2021. We have seen it across multiple industries and workplaces as workers start to realize that they're worth more than the bare minimum many employers offer them.

And while this is happening within the gaming industry as well, it seems to be happening at a much higher rate at...

New gameplay and cutscenes were shown off.

There was apparently some sort of an anniversary livestream recently for Final Fantasy? I don't know anything about it. I'm just relaying the information that Square Enix is telling me in this press release.

This anniversary stream allegedly had some new gameplay and cutscenes shown off for Stranger of Paradise Final Fantasy Origin. You know, the CHAOS game. The last we heard and saw about this game is that it will be released...

Halo Infinite Glitch Enables Couch Co-op with a Catch

There's a way to enable couch co-op in Halo Infinite, but it would be wise to wait.

For most fans, the fact that Halo Infinite released without any sort of campaign co-op was quite disappointing. 343 Industries did say that co-op would be coming alongside Season 2 of the game, which may not be released until at least May 2022.

However, there is a way to "play" Halo Infinite with local co-op thanks to a little workaround. This was discovered and posted to the...

One month later and already hitting its second sale.

The free weekend is available (presumably) until December 20 at 1PM (ET). But wait, there's more.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 Devs Double Down and then Backtrack on NFT Idea

Yet another company has backtracked on using NFTs after seeing the immense public backlash.

On Wednesday, GSC Game World announced that they will hold an auction to win an NFT that would eventually lead to the owner becoming an in-game NPC for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chernobyl called a "metahuman." On Thursday (that's today), GSC Game World announced that they would not include any NFT related items in connection with S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chernobyl.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 Offering NFT That Turns You into an In-Game NPC

    DEAR GOD MAKE IT STOP!

GSC Game World, the developer behind S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chernobyl, just announced that the game will be supported by a variety of stupid NFTs when it is released in 2022. Details are relatively scarce right now, but the studio did reveal some information on at least one of the NFTs.

This particular NFT will allow the owner to become the "first ever metahuman" in the game. This is just fancy marketing speak to say that they will...

  • What June 2023 Games Releases Will You Buy?
    by Shawn Zipay
    It's a fairly stacked month.

May and into June is usually when the mid-year lull begins for new game releases. Yet here we are in June 2023 and there are some big games either already out or coming out in the weeks ahead.

There are several games coming out this month, many of which you might call "bangers" that you might just happen to have your eye on. This month's poll is simple and probably a retread of a poll (or several) that have been done in the past....
