Company that Spends Millions on Timed Exclusives Lays Off 16% of Employees

Around 16% of all Epic employees laid off.

Epic Games is laying off around 16% of all employees, as confirmed today by Epic Games founder and CEO Tim Sweeney. This 16% comes out to roughly 900 employees that have been laid off from the company that is responsible for Unreal Engine, Fortnite, and the Epic Games Store.

    Looks like the latest growing trend with game releases is to offer a more expensive Premium or Gold or whatever edition that grants you access to a game a few days ahead of its official release.

    Starfield did it with their $99.99 (USD) Premium Edition. Today, Payday 3 is doing an "Early Access" release with their Silver and Gold editions. Diablo 4 did the same thing earlier in the year, as did Madden NFL 24,...
    I don't mind. If people want to spend more to play early, let them!
