Last week, Bethesda revealed that The Elder Scrolls V: Skryim sold over 20 million copies since its release.
This places it at #22 on the list of top selling games of all time, just behind Super Mario World (20.6 million) and ahead of Brain Age (19 million). Time's Tech section sheds a bit more light on how this stacks against the competition.

The Sinking City Devs Claim Publisher Hacked Their Game and Uploaded it to Steam
A tale of developer vs. publisher.
This past Friday, The Sinking City was released on Steam seemingly without the consent of Frogwares, the game's developer. This was, at the time, the latest in the ongoing legal battle between Frogwares and publisher Nacon. Frogwares has been actively telling fans not to purchase the current Steam release of The Sinking City because Nacon put it up without permission.
They said that they would have more to say on the subject "soon."...

Review: The Medium (PC)
Trauma begets trauma.
Bloober Team was one of my favorite developers for a while there. They came out with Layers of Fear, which I largely adored. They also released Observer, which was a solid psychological horror set in a cyberpunk style universe. They had a couple of minor missteps with Layers of Fear 2 and Blair Witch, but I still held them in high regard. Now, they just released The Medium and man does it ever feel like a major step backwards for the company. If The Medium is...

BioWare is Cutting Back on Mass Effect Butt Shots
Cutting back the "ass" in Mass Effect.
There will be a lot less emphasis on butts in the Mass Effect Legendary Edition remasters. In speaking with Metro, character environment director Kevin Meek said that BioWare is taking steps to deemphasize the T&A in some scenes. If you were someone that played the original releases, you may recall some specific scenes that had camera angles focused on mostly ass. Expect that to change in Legendary Edition, at least to some degree....

Cancelled Xbox 360 Remake of GoldenEye is Now Playable on PC
13 years later a scrapped remake resurfaces.
In 2008, there existed some plans to remake GoldenEye for the Xbox 360 Live Arcade. These plans were ultimately scrapped after getting entangled in disputes over the rights to the game and the IP. Now, in the glorious year that is 2021, a build of the game is now playable all thanks to the wonders of emulation on the PC.
Two hours of the game were uploaded to YouTube just this past week. The uploader and others said that a near-final...

Weaponcrafting Trailer for Loadout Shows How to Make Tons of Guns
A new trailer for the upcoming free-to-play title, Loadout, shows potential players how to craft a variety of weapon types in the game.
On January 31, the game will be available for free and is a bit like Team Fortress 2 meets Borderlands in terms of style and variety of weapons. You can also purchase a variety of packs that let you purchase in-game cosmetic items for your character. You can always find out more at the official Loadout website.... -

DICE Announces February as Player Appreciation Month - Includes Free Unlocks, Battlepacks, and More
DICE has decided to turn February into Player Appreciation Month for Battlefield 4. Think of it as their way of saying "sorry" for releasing one of the biggest blunders of the modern gaming era.
So, what does this mean for you, the player? They first open by saying they're still working on the "netcode" for the game that they feel wwill "tighten the overall multiplayer experience" for the game. Details are light on this but hopefully more will be revealed in the next month.... -

Over 60 Titan Ships and $155,000 Destroyed in EVE Online Over a Missed Bill Payment
I'll never understand the appeal of EVE Online. These players spend months and tons of real-world money to build ships in the game, only to go to war and lose it all in an instant. We're talking about real, tangible cash here that these people are losing.
Such is the case today as the CFC and Russian Coalition took on Pandemic Legion and N3 over a missed bill payment. Seriously.
"Earlier today an alliance in the N3 coalition missed a bill payment for the system where... -

Update - Leaked Images Show Off Supposed Source Engine 2 Screenshot and Half-Life 3 Development
Update: These slides are allegedly from a presentation Valve gave three years ago in 2011. It stands to reason that what we see in these screenshots then are already implemented, at least in part, in the current iterations of the Source Engine. The same Source version that we see at work in games like Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.
Original: It seems as though there's been yet another leak from Valve over the past day. CBOAT from NeoGAF, got his hands on a presentation that... -

Titanfall Beta Begins on Valentine's Day
The beta for Titanfall is slated to begin February 14 according to French news site, Xboxygen.com.
The beta is apparently exclusive to those that pre-order the game from Micromania in France and from GameStop in the United States. The beta looks to run from the 14th through to February 19. It will be available for the PC, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.... -

Far Cry 4 is Probably in Development
This may be the least surprising news we're posting today but it seems as though Far Cry 4 is in development at Ubisoft Shanghai. A recent CV listing on LinkedIn shows that the studio is working on the "next" Far Cry game, which is presumed to be Far Cry 4.
Hell, maybe it's Blood Dragon 2, which would also be just as nice to see. According to VG247, this isn't the first mention of a new Far Cry game being in development.

by Shawn ZipayFollowing up on February's POTM, comes a new question for you all: Which of the older console generations would you consider to be the best? We're talking about generations prior to the PlayStation 2, Xbox (OG), Gamecube, and Dreamcast (which are all under the 6th generation).
Will you prefer the more recent offerings of the PlayStation and Nintendo 64?
