  • Editorial: And Then There Were Three

In the latest article posted at From The Editor's Desk, ThQp shares his thoughts and reactions on today's E3 press conference presented by Sony. Check it out:

Here we are, almost three years into this generation's console race, and everybody has jumped on the motion control bandwagon. Nintendo has been here since the beginning, Microsoft hopped on-board yesterday with Project Natal, but it seems Sony has saved the best for last. Aside from motion controls, Sony made quite a few important announcements today, making this year's E3 a definite success.

Before unveiling their major announcement, Sony had a few small issues to take care of. First on this list was MAG, the 256 online FPS which has the potential to re-define the genre. What we saw today gave us a look at squad based action and destructible capture points. While watching the gameplay, I could not stop thinking of how similar it was to Battlefield 2.

Sticking with the PS3, two cornerstones of the Playstation universe received plenty of attention today. Everyone was hoping for it, and Sony pulled through, as they announced that God of War III will be shipping next March. Along with this, was the announcement of a new Final Fantasy title - Final Fantasy XIV Online, a PS3 exclusive. To help celebrate this announcement, Sony released Final Fantasy VII on the Playstation store this morning. The announcement of Gran Turismo 5 helped to cap off a very impressive line-up for the next year.
