The strange, bloodthirsty and misunderstood Marauders are back in Demons of the Badlands, the first downloadable content pack from THQ for their summer release of Red Faction: Guerilla. The new, additional campaign puts you in the shoes of not Alec Mason, but Samanya, your ally in the original campaign. Demons of the Badlands
Players are introduced right away into a new area of Mars described as Mariner Valley. Unlike the original campaign which contained several large areas for Mason to traverse, Demons of the Badlands only contains the Mariner Valley which, needless to say, will make this new content a short play through, though fun and entertaining none the less. Mariner Valley is a masterpiece of design because it delivers beautiful scenery during both day and night on Mars as well as bringing intense action to the new content, something that is very hard to come by in the modern day of games; beauty and action together.
New dialogue primarily contains Vasha and Samanya spouting back and forth in a sisterly squabble, but even that is very entertaining to listen to. Not much other voice acting is present to push the story forward in regards to cut scenes or major enemy characters. The rest of Demons of the Badlands does sound phenomenal with science fiction music to complete what is a great addition to Red Faction: Guerrilla which, as noted in our previous review, lacked compelling story telling to push the game forward.
Total Gaming Network Rating: 8/10
