Valve Releases Retails Sales Figures for HL and CS

Valve has recently made public the lifetime sales figures for some of their more popular titles. The catch, and there's always a catch, is that the figures are only for retail sales. This means that the figures for Steam sales are still an enigma.
    • Half-Life 1 - 9.3 million units

    • Half-Life: Opposing Force - 1.1 million

    • Half-Life: Blue Shift - 800,000

    • Counter-Strike - 4.2 million

    • Counter-Strike: Condition Zero - 2.9 million

    • Counter-Strike: Source - 2.1 million

    • Counter-Strike (Xbox) - 1.5 million

    • Half-Life 2 - 6.5 million

    • Half-Life 2: Episode One - 1.4 million

    • The Orange Box - 3 million
Valve predicts that the sales for Left 4 Dead will be roughly 20% to 30% more than those of the Orange Box, placing Left 4 Dead's retails sales at around 3.6 million to 3.9 million units.

Also of note is the understanding that Steam sales for Half-Life 2 alone are estimated to be roughly 25% of all retail sales. This number is unknown for more recent titles, but is thought to be of a much, much higher percentage. Curiously, the sales figures for Day of Defeat or DoD: Source were not revealed.

Remember, when going over these figures be sure to keep in mind that they do not include any sales made through Steam.
