A mod team is already hard at work on creating the mall from the classic zombie film, Dawn of the Dead, for use in Left 4 Dead. The Crossroads Mall map began its life in 2005 as a map for the Half-Life 2 mod, No More Room in Hell.
Since then, the map has been updated and is coming along quite nicely as a new, user-created map for Left 4 Dead.
The team released a video of the map that dates back to 2007. The footage seen in the video (after the break) is reportedly quite outdated and many of the props have been replaced to better fit into the Left 4 Dead universe.
The team promises that a new trailer should be released shortly. We'll toss that up on CS-Nation once it's made available.[break="the old trailer"]
