The box art for the German version of Left 4 Dead will only be half censored. As was previously noted, the box art for Germany featured a fully intact hand with no missing thumb or horrible abnormalities.
However, EA has notified Kotaku that the German version of the game will come with two covers.
The censored cover will still be what buyers see when purchasing the game on store shelves. However, when you purchase the game and open it up, there will be a second sleeve that can be used that features the thumbless hand in all of its gory glory.
