While PunkBuster died an anti-climatic death, The Second Coming and AdminMod cheat preventions are even worse methods of cheat detection. With that in mind, two anti-cheat programs are in the works:
- first off, the paladin anti-cheat will be released on the 25th (this coming sunday). not much is known about pac, but it's supposed to be very much like punkbuster (of course, it should be better). as always, cs-nation will cover the release and we may be posting a review or something to that effect soon.
- second, a group of developers and gamers are making the sentinel. they've posted info about a vague release date ("soon") and the two versions that will be released. sentinel light will include:
- advanced cheat detection (ogc/hlh/xqz/wh)
- server version for linux
- server version for windows
- fancy client for players
- loader for loading both sentinel and your counter-strike
While Sentinel Full will include all of the above, plus:
